Downsizing your lifestyle doesn't just mean choosing to live in less space but rather in a more efficient space. If we look at tiny living from this perspective, we can still maintain a happy and comfortable life. And contrary to what some might believe, tiny living can also be a satisfying lifestyle for growing families, as there are many compact homes that offer the same level of functionality and comfort as traditional family houses.
Case in point, the Tia tiny home on wheels designed and built by Indigo River Tiny Homes in Dallas, Texas. This bunkhouse-style mobile home measures 36 feet in length and 8.5 feet in width, so it's on the bigger side by tiny house standards and is perfect for a growing family as it comes with a plethora of interesting features and space-saving solutions meant to make living in a compact space comfortable. The clever floor plan includes three stand-up bedrooms, a living room, a spacious and well-kitted-out kitchen, and a bathroom with a full-size tub.
Indigo River Tiny Homes has been building tiny living spaces since 2017 and offers clients various floor plans to choose from, but they also build custom tiny houses, many of which feature their signature stand-up lofts that appeal to families and taller individuals.
The Tia design is one of the models suitable for families in the company's portfolio, and the spacious interior is not its only appealing trait. The exterior of the house is also beautiful, with Smartside siding and cedar accents. Practicality is another strong suit for Tia, with the exterior also featuring not one but two large storage sheds that can be used for stowing away gear, tools, and other items.

Tia's interior is accessed through a fiberglass outswing door that leads into an open-plan living and kitchen space that ensures a smooth transition between areas. The light-colored walls, high ceilings, and a myriad of windows enhance the feeling of openness and brightness inside the house.
The living room is spacious enough to accommodate a family sofa and a center table or maybe an entertainment unit with a TV. The adjacent kitchen is perfect for a family that cooks and eats at home, featuring lots of cabinets and apartment-size appliances. The custom-built cabinets have butcher block countertops and toe kick drawers to increase storage space. Floating upper shelves and a wide catwalk add extra space for kitchen essentials and decor items.
A 24-inch farmhouse sink, a two-burner glass cooktop, a stove, a vent hood with a ventilation fan to the exterior, and a full-size refrigerator make the kitchen functional.
Opposite the kitchen, there is a nice breakfast bar that can be used for both serving meals and working. The two-piece table folds down to create an open space when not in use.

Designed with families in mind, the Tia tiny house has three bedrooms - one located downstairs and two in the loft section. A storage staircase leads to one of the lofts, while the second can be accessed by using a ship ladder with hand railing. There is one wardrobe per bedroom, providing hanging space and drawers for each member of the family.
Having to crawl into bed is one of the inconveniences of tiny homes, but this is not the case with Tia. With one downstairs bedroom and two stand-up loft bedrooms, every member of the family living here will enjoy intimacy and will be able to stand up beside their bed and wardrobe to get dressed in comfort.
Larger families will thrive inside this tiny house. It can accommodate multiple people in the two lofts and two others in the downstairs bedroom, so between six to eight people can sleep inside this dwelling with ease.
And if a gooseneck is added to the design, the floor plan can be modified to include a fourth bedroom or an office, increasing the functionality offered to the inhabitants.

Indigo River also offers a Deluxe upgrade for the Tia model, which adds an L-shaped landing to access two sides of the bed, an extra wardrobe, and a window seat with integrated storage in one of the stand-up lofts. An extra 4-foot by 9.5-foot exterior storage space under the landing is also part of the upgrade.
The bathroom is also an essential space in a family house, so the company made sure it's as practical and functional as the rest of the house. It includes a full-size soaking tub/shower combo, a sizeable vanity, a flush toilet, and a mirrored medicine cabinet. Painted walls ensure protection against water vapor damage.
Each Indigo River-built tiny home we've seen is a unique and highly-functional dwelling, but Tia is one of their best designs.
