Alongside its four-door sibling, the Charger, the current Challenger is a very old car. The third generation blew 15 candles off its birthday cake earlier this year, and it doesn't have much life left in it, as it will drive off into the sunset by 2024.
Rather strangely, Dodge keeps taking its time to reveal its successor, which will likely go down the electric route. In fact, they previewed it last year with the hot Charger Daytona SRT Concept, and we certainly wouldn't mind if it retains those looks regardless of what powers it.

Fortunately for gearheads of all ages, Dodge has made sure that the current Challenger will go down in history as one of the most powerful production cars on the planet. And we're not necessarily talking about the Hellcat series, even though it falls in this category, but the hotter Demon.

The latest take on it is called the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, and it truly is a formidable player. Its engine, which is the famous 6.2-liter supercharged V8, was almost entirely rebuilt in order to cope with the extra oomph. And what an oomph it is! 1,025 horsepower (1,040 ps/765 kW) and 945 lb-ft (1,281 Nm) of torque are unleashed every time the driver pushes the right pedal to the floor.

Mind you, there is one condition to obtain these numbers, and that is to fill the tank with E85. If you do and know your way around this rear-wheel drive beast of a car, then you could pull 1.66-second runs to 60 mph (97 kph), according to the official data. You will also be able to smoke those annoying Teslas down the quarter mile, as it can run it in 8.91 seconds with an exit speed of 151.17 mph (243.28 kph).

If you were lucky enough to have landed a Demon 170 straight from Dodge, or at least a build slot, then you have probably paid a little over $100,000 for it. That's a great price for a vehicle that can pretty much humiliate the supercar establishment as long as the road remains straight. And if you didn't, then you can always turn to the used car market. Mind you, if you do, then you should expect to pay around three times the original MSRP for one.

You could also compromise and get its predecessor, which builds on the same iteration of the Dodge Challenger. The normal SRT Demon is also a force to be reckoned with, and with everything up and running, it can do 2.3 seconds to sixty miles an hour. The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 is capable of pushing out up to 840 hp (852 ps/627 kW). The torque peak torque is 770 lb-ft (1,044 Nm). And if you must ask about the quarter mile, this is a nine-second car.

It is not only the Demon 170 that tends to cost an absurd amount of money on the used car market today, but the normal Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, too. It is not unheard of copies being listed for some $300,000, and we even came across one earlier this year that had an asking price of $550,000. Fortunately, these are rare exceptions, and the run-of-the-mill copies usually tend to change hands for roughly $200,000. That's certainly not pennies, and chances are this model's value will increase.

This has gotten us thinking about some of the most affordable examples out there, so we went on the popular eBay to find them. The cheapest of them all is a 2018 model with a little over 10,000 miles (16,000+ km) on the clock, which is being advertised by a Florida used car dealer based in Fort Lauderdale. This red-on-black copy seems to be in good overall condition, and it is waiting for its next owner to transfer the asking sum and sign their name on the dotted line.

But how much money are we actually talking about? That would be $119,990, which doesn't sound bad at all for a low-mileage, five-year-old Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The online auction will end on October 26, so there is enough time to make an offer. You could also contact the vendor and take a trip to Fort Lauderdale to see it in person. After all, it's not like you buy a six-digit vehicle that often, do you?

You can check out this muscle car in a generous batch of images by clicking this link, which will take you to the aforementioned eBay listing. Yet before you do, tell us what you think of it and if it is a good deal at $120k or not. If you're lucky, then holding on to it for a couple of years and not putting excessive miles on the odo might make you a nice profit. But then again, we're not the kind to buy a hot car and not drive it on a constant basis, are we?
