Ford brought back the Bronco in 2021 and with it, all the nostalgia of an iconic model that came to life in the 1960s. Today, it is as boxy as ever, but more capable than ever. This is the case for this 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor that sports a bunch of exciting tweaks that turn it into a bling-bling on wheels.
The Ford Bronco has always been this angular off-roader that did not offer much in terms of styling and comfort. It used a box-section body-on-frame construction, with the chassis specifically developed for the Bronco lineup and shared with no other model.

To simplify production and go cost-efficient, Ford chose to offer all Broncos with all-wheel drive, a Dana 20 transfer case, and locking hubs. As bizarre as it may sound, it was actually cheaper to sell them more expensive.

Designed to fight the Jeep CJ-5 and the Toyota Land Cruiser, it sold well at first. But then, the market shifted toward more comfortable and good-looking models, such as the Chevrolet Blazer and Jeep Cherokee. Forced by the numbers, Ford decided to discontinue the model and steer focus to products that matched the trends in the car industry.

It was June 12, 1996, when the last Bronco rolled off the assembly line in Wayne, Michigan. Ford insisted that the discontinuation of the model had no connection whatsoever with the O.J. Simpson police chase, with the football player trying to get away from the police officers in a white Bronco.

We don't have a white Bronco here. But what we do have is one painted in Eruption Green Metallic, a body paint that was new for the Bronco lineup in 2022 and disappeared in 2023, because, as we have told you before, Ford is still experimenting with colors. There is, though, a Shelter Green now, the next best thing to the Eruption Green.

Experimenting is what the owner of this Bronco did as well, because they put this green over a blue leather and suede interior with contrasting orange patterned inserts and stitching. That's quite a bold color combo, isn't it?

The model rides on 17-inch black-finished alloy wheels with BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires. The Raptor High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension system with live valve Fox dampers and the front stabilizer bar disconnect system are also on the menu.

Four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with dual-piston floating calipers over 350-millimeter rotors up front provide the stopping power.

So this Eruption Green Metallic Bronco is a Raptor. And you know the Bronco Raptors. They get Raptor-specific wheel arch flares, fender vents, and a vented hood with Raptor badging.

What powers the Bronco Raptor is the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 with a Baja Mode, capable of generating 418 horsepower (424 metric horsepower) and 440 lb-ft (596 Nm) of torque for a run from 0 to 60 mph (0-97 kph) in 6.5 seconds. The engine is linked to a ten-speed automatic transmission, which delivers them all to all four corners.

The Bronco Raptor also sports a dual-range transfer case and electronic locking front and rear differentials, plus an active exhaust system with four selectable modes: Quiet, Normal, Sport, and Baja, with the latter being the loudest of them all.

And there is a long list of extras that the owner put on their car. The list includes the Lux package, which brings on board the ten-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, wireless charging pad, the Ford Co-Pilot360 tech, and the 12-inch touchscreen.

The other screen inside the cabin of the Bronco is the 8-inch configurable digital instrument cluster behind the heated steering wheel in leather.
The owner also checked the box for the folding OutBack Adventure Trailgater for the rear cargo door.

There is also a Carbonized Gray hardtop, removable roof panels, a Ford Performance heavy-duty modular front bumper, and a received hitch.

A KC HiLites LED Pro6 light bar showed up on the roof and there are rigid mirror-mounted LED lights with Ford Performance-branded light covers. The model is equipped with parking sensors. The driver benefits from the presence of the SYNC 4 infotainment system and of the Terrain Management system with G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) modes: Normal, Eco, Slippery, and Sand.

This off-roader is now for sale on Bring a Trailer with 4,200 miles on the odometer, all covered during the current ownership. With around 12 hours to go, the bidding hit $70,500. That goes very close to the price shown by the window sticker: $77,720.

It comes with an accident-free Carfax report and a clean Montana title, but there is a paint blemish on the left rear quarter panel. The seller applied a clear paint protection film to the painted exterior surfaces and a matte paint protection film to the black fender flares. Whoever drives this baby home is getting the owner’s manual and two keys.
