If you love hosting big Christmas parties for all your family and friends, you might have wondered what it would be like if you had an extra home to accommodate some of them overnight or even over the weekend. And, before you know it, your dreams might go as far as owning a chic, eye-catching vacation rental on your own property. A compact and highly versatile dwelling like Om would be perfect for all of that.
The tiny house concept itself is versatile enough to include anything from two-story, multiple-bedroom versions to the most compact and basic models. Each option is better suited for certain lifestyles and preferences, but it would be fair to say that the tiniest ones are the most flexible and the most accessible on multiple levels.

You can't go wrong with a house on wheels like the adorable Om by Tiny Tect. Its size seems limiting, yet the ingenious design turns it into a gold mine. Om is the tiniest model designed by the Australian team behind the Tiny Tect brand. The length varies between 4.2 and 4.8 meters (13.7 to 15.7 feet), paired with a 2.4-meter width (7.8 feet) and a 3.4-meter height (11 feet). The tiny Om offers the same main benefits as the brand's larger models, including full mobility and a fully self-contained living space compatible with contemporary comfort standards.

This lightweight tiny can accommodate one or two people, and it does so in full comfort. The main feature of its clever layout is the lounge and reverse loft solution, which takes advantage of the home's height. In order to save space and keep things as compact as possible, the lounge was cleverly set up right above the main-floor bedroom, which is more of a sleeping area with just enough space for a queen-sized mattress.

Om's bedroom is basic and small, but it gets the job done in terms of providing a comfy bed for one or two people. Due to its specific placement inside this layout, it's not much more than a sleeping area with the benefits of easy access and some privacy. The lounge, on the other hand, is much more generous.

It offers an ample surface for a conventional living room setup with a large sofa or comfy chairs, a coffee table, and a big TV screen that's incorporated into a large cabinet. In other words, this room is great not just for relaxation but also for storing larger items, which is always a plus with small dwellings. Best of all, the panoramic window opens up the space even more and helps bring in lots of natural light.

Windows are a very important part of the Om's overall functionality. They are remarkably large for a house this size and effectively create the illusion of a wider open space. Plus, they're a classic solution for creating an indoor/outdoor flow, a must-have for owners who are passionate about the outdoors.

These windows also help brighten up the tiny Om's kitchen area. The kitchenette is more like a cooking nook that's cleverly separated from the sleeping/lounge area by a simple wall. The home's turnkey version includes the tiny countertop and all the cabinets, a sink, a two-burner cooktop, and a separate compartment for a bar fridge. For an additional fee, future owners can add the fridge itself and a dishwasher drawer (only for the maximum length version).

Those who choose the maximum length version of the tiny Om can even add either a washing machine or a washer/dryer combo, which would really make this tiny house fully equipped for everyday comfortable living. The basic model comes with a simple bathroom that's equipped with a shower, a composting toilet, and an extraction fan.

Another ingenious design solution was to incorporate a two-in-one dining table and staircase. Instead of providing the typical hidden storage, this staircase doubles as a convenient breakfast bar sitting right in front of a large window, with matching bar stools. It's an excellent dining solution that also saves a lot of space. This is an optional feature – some might prefer to go with a simple ladder for loft access – but one that is highly recommended for those who want to make the most of this tiny house.

The Om tiny house is all about perfect balance. While its windows are huge, the storage solutions are discrete and compact. For instance, you'll find a couple of tiny shelves on the interior wall of the bedroom as a clever alternative to nightstands.

The kitchen nook also comes with overhead storage space in addition to the multiple cabinets. In terms of flexibility, the generous lounge area can serve multiple purposes, depending on the home's ultimate destination. The tiny Om can easily go from a mobile office or a guest house to a full-blown weekender or vacation rental.

And it's not all about a stylish, functional look. This compact abode is also a display of high-quality craftsmanship. It's built with durable materials and fully insulated, including the floor. The windows come with aluminum frames and insect screens, and the turnkey version includes full plumbing and electrical wiring, an instant gas hot water system, and LED lights. Customers who want to have a more sustainable lifestyle also have the option to add solar panels, a battery package, and water tanks.

It's easy to see that an architect-designed tiny home can offer impressive features even in the most compact packaging. The best part is that pricing starts at just AUD 55,990 (less than $40,000) – from there, the truly tiny Om can be transformed into a luxurious, compact mobile home.
