In the search for the ultimate off-grid living machine, I've come across an American team from the Biggest Little City in the World, Reno, Nevada. It's here that I locked eyes with AEONrv, a manufacturer that's paving the road for what a truly independent RV should achieve.
Folks, AEONrv has been spotted on our pages before. Back in 2021, I got word of a new crew on the RV scene, and two years later, they're still at it in this cutthroat business. Better yet, not only are they still alive, but they've just announced their newest and updated model, the one and only model for the year 2023.

Now, just to make sure we're on the same page here, I need to point out that an AEONrv machine is no cheap endeavor. Heck, these babies start off with an "easy-going" price tag of $219,500 (€209K at current exchange rates), and that's for a standard unit. However, "standard" means something else entirely when we're talking about AEONrv. Let's explore what I mean.

Overall, each unit adventure mobile starts off with a Ford Transit T-350 single rear-wheel cutaway chassis with AWD. Already, you should be catching onto the notion that this one is a bit different because even some RVs from already-established giants like Jayco and Winnebago in this price range don't include AWD.

Up next, the fact that Ford is at the center of the unit, you'll be driving around with ease and in the safest fashion possible. Systems to signal blind spots, direct reversing, and countless other sensors are part of each new unit. Cruise control, lane keeping, and countless others are in place, too, but if I were to go through everything in place, we'd be here until the cows come home.

Part of what makes these campers so dang capable is their suspension system. Overall, a 2-inch (5 cm) lift kit with custom heavy-duty coil springs and rear leaf springs is the base for the magic. Once custom-tuned Falcon shocks are added to the rear, there's no telling what roads or lack thereof you'll be able to cross. Oh, your differential is also protected by a skid plate 0.25 of an inch thick.

With the base for this machine out of the way, I do need to point out that AEONrv prides itself on offering an entirely self-sufficient machine. Overall, units are completed with an 8.2 kWh Battle Born LiFePO4 battery pack, upgradeable to 10.9 kWh or 13.6 kWh, a 3,000 VA Victron inverter/charger, and above all, 700 W of solar processing power. As for management, Victron is at the center of the action.

Now, take all that, drive it into the middle of nowhere, and get yourself acquainted with the rest of AEONrv magic. All that starts off with you and your family, up to two adults and two children, and all the belongings you need for the next few days to week. Don't worry; there's plenty of storage space inside and outside your RV.

When I say plenty of storage, I mean it. Not only are there countless cupboards and bays hidden all over the unit, but 65 cu ft (1.8 cu m) of heated garage is also part of the mix. Since it has 40 in (101 cm) of headroom, you can even bring along some e-bikes.

Once you've made it to that X on your map, flip on the hot water heater, Espar Airtonic air heater, or 9,000 BTU AC unit, mess with the dimmable lights, start unloading your outdoor dining setup, and enjoy the rest of your vacation with the only sounds being those that your family and the local wildlife happen to produce.

As for the interior of these buggers, again, AEONrv goodness shines through in every corner. Composite materials are used to craft just about everything we see, which ensures that the elements don't go peeling away at your unit's veneers.

Furthermore, with the know-how of this crew, future owners will be able to access everything from a modular dinette to a queen bed, an indoor galley block, and, best of all, an interior wet bath. The latter is essential if you like to live a clean and comfortable life, and as we can see, that's sure to cost quite a bit of cash.

Beyond the basics, the manufacturer does place an array of extras at our disposal. We can upgrade the battery setup I mentioned, but there's more underbody protection to be had, a different bedding layout, larger features, and countless exterior add-ons to create a unit that's ready to go no matter the time of year. Yes, AEONrv campers are four-season-ready!

For the next few minutes or so, let's take a little trip through our imagination and feel how our lives can change with something like this. See yourself packing up your summer or winter gear, hitting the road with your loved ones, only to look back once you've exhausted your water and food. Think about the plains you'll be able to explore, the mountainsides, or coastlines.

At the end of the day, AEONrv has always been synonymous with year-round and off-grid mobile living, and by the looks of things, that hasn't changed. There's just one item I recommend you add to your unit: a camera to capture unedited moments of this experience we call life. GG AEONrv, GG!
