The Tesla Cyberquad for Kids is finally back on sale in America. Recalled for safety reasons, the Cybertruck-inspired model returns with all issues fixed.
The team building the Tesla Cyberquad, Radio Flyer, in partnership with Tesla, has been working to fix the issues on the toy vehicle for two years. The model launched back in December 2021, but was subject to a recall in October 2022, because it did not meet the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards.

The CPSC decided that it did not comply with the ATV federal safety standards for youths and featured inadequate mechanical suspension and maximum tire pressure. Tesla sold approximately 5,000 units before the company was forced to stop selling them.

The updated version is Model 915, which replaced the 914. The manufacturer replaced the rear spring with a steel tube with rubber-coated metal inserts, updated the age range from 9 to 12 years old (up from 8 to 12), and glued a new tire inflation warning label on the front-left fender. They also want that it is not an ATV, nor is it intended for off-road use. However, the photos that promote the product contradict the interdiction.

A 500-watt motor provides it with a top speed of 10 mph (16 kph), which parents can limit to only 5 mph (8 kph). Meanwhile, a 36V lithium-ion battery comes with an estimated range of 15 miles (24 kilometers). The four-wheeler is built around a steel frame and sports LED headlights and taillights, and a rear end that mimics that of the Cybertruck.

Radio Flyer sells the Cyberquad for $1,900 and will begin shipping in the US this month. The ride-on toy is exclusively available on Tesla's website. That is where they also sell the Model S for Kids and also My First Model Y.

The Cyberquad first made a comeback on the Chinese market back in July. In October, it also arrived in Europe, where customers have to pay 1,990 euros, the equivalent of $2,158 at the current exchange rates. Meanwhile, the Chinese customers pay 11,990 yuan, which is $1,654. Which is still a lot to pay for a toy the kid will grow out of soon.

Tesla recommends storing the toy with a Cyberquad for Kids Cover, which adds $95 to the final price of $1,900 in the US.

Tesla will reportedly launch a variant of the Cyberquad for Grown-ups, which should be a full-size ATV. It is the best they could do while customers are still waiting for the Cybertruck that the carmaker unveiled back in November 2019. The EV entered low-volume production this fall at the Giga Texas, but production will only ramp up in the first quarter of 2024. Considering the long waiting list, there will be years before customers will get their hands on their then-not-so-new Cybertruck.
