Having a tiny house that is jam-packed with amenities and still feels spacious and airy is kind of a paradox in the world of tiny living. However, there are some tiny home builders out there that make it work and offer customers design-savvy dwellings that are highly functional and comfortable.
One of them is Teacup Tiny Homes, an Alberta, Canada-based company whose declared mission is to help people "break free of conformity" and "enjoy life more instead of chasing an old, outdated American dream that may never be achieved." The design we are exploring here is called The Kèya and reflects the Canadian company's commitment to thoughtful design and functional living. It also embodies the spirit of simplicity and minimalism, offering a clutter-free space for everyday life.

The Kèya is a 34-foot (10-meter) long and 8.5-foot (2.6-meter) wide tiny house on wheels that was built in 2022 for a family in British Columbia. It is based on Teacup's Ellie floorplan and designed as the ultimate family tiny home, being able to sleep up to six people in its three bedrooms.
Boasting a modern black and white exterior design, this custom compact dwelling is built on a double-axle trailer and is clad in durable vertical seam metal siding coupled with a metal roof. The interior is bursting with space and filled with sunlight thanks to a full-light entrance door and numerous windows. It is equally luminous in the evening, courtesy of modern interior lighting.
With 423 sq ft (39.2 sq meters) of living space, the spacious interior includes an inviting living room, a main floor bedroom, a gourmet kitchen, two lofted sleeping spaces, and a gorgeous bathroom. The remarkably stylish interior with modern decor, white walls, and pastel accents exudes a coastal home vibe, while the functional layout and modern amenities allow you to feel right at home.
A great part of the main floor is dedicated to daily living, with an open-space living and kitchen area. The light-filled lounge area is furnished with a comfortable sofa and a side table, with the wall in front big enough to accommodate a TV for entertainment. An area rug placed in front of the couch contributes to the overall aesthetics of the space, enhancing its visual appeal.

The Kèya tiny house benefits from a premium kitchen with green-pastel colored cabinetry along both sides of the tiny and a slew of modern appliances. There is plenty of storage for pots and pans, generous counter space for meal prep, as well as a cute breakfast bar that integrates additional storage. In terms of functionality, it is kitted out with a full range with a four-burner cooktop and oven, a full-size fridge, a dishwasher, and a farmhouse-style sink, which make cooking for a family a breeze.
The ground-floor bedroom is separated from the rest of the house by a discrete sliding door, creating privacy and comfort. Privacy is highly valued in tiny homes, which is why downstairs bedrooms are now a popular feature in designs large enough to allow them.
Kèya's main bedroom is simplistic yet incredibly stylish with a Scandinavian-style décor and large glazing that adds just the right amount of luminosity. Though the comfortable full-size bed practically takes up most of the floor space, the room still feels spacious and lavish. There is no storage solution integrated in here, but the walls are large enough for the addition of overhead cabinets or shelves.

Wooden ladders on either side of the living room sofa lead to the lofted areas. There is one above the main-floor bedroom and one above the bathroom. They both feature full protection walls for increased privacy and large windows that ensure brightness and proper ventilation.
These lofted spaces add a lot of versatility to the design, as the owners can configure them as they see fit based on their needs. They can use one of them as a bedroom and the other as an office space or for storage. Alternatively, both can be fitted with mattresses to serve as sleeping spaces, making Kèya a surprising three-bedroom family home.
Lavish facilities await to be discovered in the bathroom. A generously sized bathtub with showerhead, a toilet, a big vanity, and storage cabinets that match those in the kitchen make the bathroom an attractive part of the house. Large windows keep it bright and open, while a huge round mirror and some wall art add style to the space.
With its beautiful main-floor bedroom, two loft areas, a functional kitchen, and a lavish bathroom, the Kèya is a comfortable family home. The thoughtful layout also makes it a great choice for those who like to entertain guests.
Since the Kèya is a custom build, this unit doesn't come with a price tag, but Teacup's Ellie tiny house model starts at approximately CAD$ 180,000 (around US$137,330).
