Right now, all eyes are on Tesla – as always over the past few years – for a couple of motives. One is bad – a whistleblower has decided to fight the power of Elon Musk and Co. to expose the company's issues. And the other one is potentially good – the impending Tesla Cybertruck launch.
Just recently, a few days ahead of the November 30 delivery event, leaked specifications of the Tesla Cybertruck have revealed a few surprises and one disappointment, and the rumor mill has also caught wind that production of delivery models has finally kicked off at Giga Texas.

However, there is one side of the Tesla fanbase that doesn't really care about the whistleblower issues or the impeding start of Cybertruck deliveries. The owners of Performance and Plaid models are more preoccupied with putting their great EVs into the proper spotlight – including at the 'local' quarter-mile drag racing facility.

Interestingly, sometimes these owners want to show their mettle exactly at the same time. Such a case occurred recently at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and there's no need to take our word for it because we have footage courtesy of the videographer behind the Wheels Plus channel on YouTube.

A big fan of places like Bandimere Speedway, Mission Raceway Park, or The Strip, this time around the videographer caught a couple of Teslas that were eerily similar. More precisely, both featured nice crimson attire all over the body, dark 'shoes' – aka alloy wheels, and a desire to see who's boss at the racetrack. According to the description and as far as we can tell, these two EVs are a Tesla Model S Plaid and a Tesla Model 3 Performance.

On the street, the difference between them is shrinking – if you buy a Tesla Model 3 Performance right now it's almost $51k while the Tesla Model S Plaid is no longer well over $100k. In fact, you could even say the 1,020-hp EV limousine is (almost) a bargain at $89,990 – especially if you compare it to the marginally faster Lucid Air Sapphire that costs no less than $249k!

Anyway, we digress. Back to The Strip, where the burgundy-shaded Teslas awaited to see who's faster, it was clear the Model 3 Performance owner was in his element – the Plaid did a ton of wheel slip during the first race and also lost the start during the second. Alas, no matter how fast the Model 3 tried to be, the difference remains pretty preposterous: 10.88s versus 12.14s during the first run and a much better 9.87s versus 11.65s during the second pass.

By the way, if you want some ICE-powered action with the same kind of potential difference, we recommend taking a look at the second video embedded below from the 'ImportRace' channel showcasing a Fox Body Mustang racing a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with the dealer sticker still on the video! It's a treat, we assure you.
