The tiny home movement is spreading across the world like wildfire as more and more people are embracing a simpler, more sustainable way of life. When imagining their future tiny house, some dream of waking up in a cozy loft bedroom overlooking the light-filled open space living area downstairs, while others prefer the convenience of a main-floor bedroom for a living experience as close to a typical home as possible.
The Tahoe tiny house on wheels offers the best of both worlds with a main-floor bedroom and a loft sleeping space. The clever interior layout of this home allows residents to enjoy the advantages of a completely private sleeping space with full standing height downstairs while also embracing vertical living and having the functionality of two levels.

However, this is not an ordinary tiny house with a loft, and what sets it apart is the placement of the loft in the middle section of the house rather than at the far end of the same, creating a space that feels more open and spacious.

Built by Colfax, California-based builder Freedom Tiny Homes, the Tahoe mobile dwelling is 36 feet (11 meters) long and 10 feet (3 meters) wide and can accommodate up to five residents inside its spacious interior. Besides the two sleeping spaces, a cute, minimalist living room, a gourmet kitchen, and a modern bathroom are also part of the floorplan.

Since tiny houses are built on wheeled trailers, they often stick to 8.5 feet of width so that they can be towed on the road without a special permit. However, the Tahoe is slightly wider at 10 feet wide, and as soon as you step inside, you will notice what huge of a difference a few extra inches can make in a small space. It makes the interior feel more open and allows for the inclusion of more storage solutions and a wider array of modern amenities.

The residents' comfort sits at the forefront of the Tahoe design, with the builders endowing it with all kinds of creature comforts. For instance, an air conditioner ensures optimal climate control, a washer and dryer combo unit provides the convenience of on-site laundry facilities, and a plasma TV in the living room takes care of the owners' entertainment. Moreover, modern kitchen appliances make cooking for the whole family a breeze and a fire alarm enhances safety.

Once you step inside this tiny home through the front glass door, you will be charmed by its bright interior with crisp white walls and a myriad of windows that bring in plenty of natural light. The choice of a limited color palette, featuring neutral tones of black, white, and muted grays, contributes to a sense of elegance and sophistication inside this home.

The living room sits at one end of the house and fits a convertible couch, a round coffee table, and a couple of stools for additional seating. The plasma TV is mounted on the only windowless wall in this area and provides a perfect viewing angle from both the couch and the adjacent kitchen.

The L-shaped galley kitchen takes advantage of both side walls and includes plenty of sleek cabinets that allow residents to stow away all their kitchen essentials and keep the space clean and clutter-free. An electric cooktop, an oven, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, and a sink ensure high functionality, while quartz countertops and a subway tile backsplash add elegance and style to the cooking space.

The Tahoe tiny home does not include a separate dining area, but the L-shaped kitchen counter doubles as a dining/breakfast nook, with two elegant stools matching those in the living area in terms of style.

A standard wooden ladder offers access to the spacious lofted area, which occupies the space above the bathroom. It can house a full-size bed, and its unusual placement means it is mostly open except for the custom railing on both sides.

The lack of a staircase means more living space on the main floor. It also means the designers had to come up with alternative storage solutions, so they incorporated a small hallway that leads to the master bedroom and has full-height closets on one side and the bathroom on the other.

The compact bathroom is as functional and well-designed as the rest of the house, with a tiled shower stall, a vanity sink, and a toilet. The bedroom can be found at the rear end of the house and fits a king-size bed and a nightstand. It's not the most spacious nor the most luxurious main-floor bedroom we've seen, but it certainly looks comfy and is perfect for those who want to avoid climbing a ladder to go to bed.

Freedom Tiny Homes built the Tahoe with a sturdy wooden frame and top-of-the-shelf materials to ensure durability, energy efficiency, and a comfortable living environment. The beautiful exterior is clad in a mix of board and batten and steel siding and looks as modern and sophisticated as the interior.

Pricing for the Tahoe tiny house on wheels starts at $143,500 and can go up to $179,480 with the options offered by the builder, which include features like a dishwasher, a range hood unit, an outlet utility box for solar power system, insulation upgrade, exterior deck stairs, and more.
