Tiny home living can be absolutely grandiose and luxurious, and The Grande proves it. This Kiwi mobile home design is as generous as it gets in terms of spaciousness, with a lavish main-floor bedroom and two versatile loft rooms.
It's hard to pick a favorite design from the Cocoon Tiny Homes range. This family-owned and operated business based in Auckland, New Zealand, dazzles customers with some of the most spectacular models out there. Each house on wheels is a perfect combination of high-quality craftsmanship, sustainable materials, and a fresh, contemporary interior style. These are also some of the most spacious models we've seen, whether it's a single-level version or a loft tiny house.

As its name suggests, The Grande is one of the brand's most spacious models and the largest one in the two-story home range. It's 12-meter-long (39 feet) and offers a total of 50 square meters (538 square feet) of living space, which is truly amazing for a tiny house. The fact that it's so welcoming and that it boasts three bedrooms on both levels makes it a highly flexible housing option. It's wonderful for couples who don't want to sacrifice the comfort of a conventional home, for families, or for grandparents who decide to downsize yet still be able to welcome family members and entertain guests.

The Grande is also remarkably modern in terms of both functionality and style. One thing that makes it truly contemporary is its high versatility. The second loft bedroom was designed with a stylish slat wall that offers a beautiful wide view of the entire downstairs area. This makes it appropriate for a cool, boho-style upstairs lounge, a private relaxation cocoon with enough space for a comfortable living room setup. Still, those who need extra accommodation can easily configure it as a third bedroom and even swap the slat wall for a solid one, which would make the room fully enclosed.

Even if all the rooms are used as bedrooms, there's still a dedicated lounge area downstairs, so there's no need to switch from one setting to another. This is one of the luxuries of owning such a spacious home on wheels. At the same time, each bedroom is wide enough, fitted with storage solutions, and well-ventilated. The other loft bedroom is also full-height, it can fit in a single or a queen-sized bed and can also include large built-in wardrobes. A walkway easily connects these two rooms, and a classic staircase with elegant LED lighting leads to the main level.

The main bedroom is perfect for those who don't like to climb stairs or can't. It's also big enough for a queen-size bed, with ample walk-around space and room for additional furniture. One of the best things about it is that it also ensures full privacy and quietude for a restful sleep, something that can be an issue with compact tiny homes that only have a cramped loft sleeping option.

The kitchen is another ultra-modern space inside The Grande. The main attraction here is an ingenious addition in the form of a moveable kitchen island. If the house comes on wheels, the breakfast bar does the same – it's an island on wheels, which means it's easy to take outside for summer BBQs and parties. This kitchen doesn't just bring the outdoors in, it moves outside altogether. The breakfast bar, one of the signature features of most Australian and Kiwi home designs, is a versatile item to begin with. By making it mobile, it becomes even more flexible. It's a must-have for folks who want to spend as much time outdoors as possible.

The part of the kitchen that isn't going anywhere is packed full of premium amenities, including a two-burner oven, a large sink, a dishwasher, and a large fridge. Future owners can choose the type of oven they want to add. The furnishings, like the custom-made cabinetry and the large pantry, are also top quality.

The Grande's relaxed, informal interior design also includes a seamless transition from the kitchen to the lounge area, which is part of the same open-plan configuration that makes the overall space feel even wider. There's ample room for a traditional-style sofa, and the large window behind it brings in natural light and fresh air. With so many different areas available, future owners can play around with the layout. For instance, one of the bedrooms, or even the lounge, can be transformed into a big, comfortable home office.

Perhaps the only downside is that there's only one bathroom inside this large, three-bedroom home. It's conveniently close to the main bedroom, and the best thing about it is that it's just as spacious as all the other areas in the home. It's a walk-through bathroom with a full-size corner shower and a large vanity. The elegant black-and-white color palette with contrasting textures also makes it extra glamorous.

The full-built version starts at NZD 259,000 ($161,300), and it’s a luxury option for those who want to take tiny house living to the next level. The Grande is an ideal family home fit for an urban lifestyle and would fit in just as great as a spacious resort in an exotic setting.
