More and more people believe that the best way to kick off their journey as house owners is to go for a tiny home on wheels. It's also one of the greatest ways to downsize after retirement or during any other moment in one's life when cutting costs and increasing personal freedom becomes a priority. The Australian Nomad might just be the perfect choice in each scenario – this lovely tiny house is pure sunshine on wheels.
The Nomad is so small and simple that you might be tempted to mistake it for a regular cabin in the woods. Yet this is a remarkably sophisticated build in terms of materials, finishing, and appliances. It boasts the classic tiny house configuration with a small kitchen and a separate bathroom downstairs, plus a loft bedroom, which makes it perfectly suitable for those in search of a starter home. It's compact and easy to maintain, yet also different than other models in the same size range because it goes beyond the basics through simple and smart upgrades.

First of all, the Nomad is much more luminous and airy than what you'd expect from a home this size. It looks and feels like a piece of contemporary architecture designed to create a seamless indoor/outdoor flow. The high-quality craftsmanship and minimalistic style create an unexpected sense of sophisticated elegance and even luxury. There's nothing outdated or even rustic about this beautiful home that feels like a modern urban sanctuary in every way.

This compact dwelling is only 5.5 meters long (18 feet) and 2.4 meters wide (7.8 feet), which makes it very easy to transport and maintain. Like all the Salty Builds homes, it comes on a high-quality galvanized steel chassis that promises extra durability. In terms of layout, it successfully integrates all the basics for everyday comfort within 21 square meters (226 square feet).

The ground-floor level is beautifully connected to the outdoors through large glass doors and a big window above. This way, the lounge area is bathed in natural light and can also benefit from an exterior extension that will make it seem wider. A cozy fireplace is one of the few rustic-style elements inside this home, which only helps to create a homely ambiance.

The L-shaped kitchenette is also small but filled with sunshine thanks to the strategic placement between two large windows. The furniture is kept to a minimum in order to prevent clutter, yet it's designed to provide enough hidden storage and to integrate all the appliances, including a small bar fridge.

You'll find the bathroom at the end of the house, separated via a discrete sliding door. It's more elegant than you'd expect, boasting a tasteful mix of relaxing colors, high-quality finishes, and custom-made pieces, such as the Salty Builds concrete vanity. The composting toilet is an eco-friendly feature that's included in all the basic models from this brand.

The simple, natural-tone ladder is another rustic-style element that doesn't clash with the Nomad's contemporary, clean aesthetics. It's a well-known space-saving solution in small dwellings where the bedroom is located upstairs. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it is a classic addition to most compact tiny homes in this size category.

The loft itself exudes the same air of sophisticated, clean elegance as the ground floor setup. It's mostly due to the high-quality materials and craftsmanship. It can fit in a comfortable two-person bed, and the windows on each side also add lots of natural light while ensuring proper ventilation.

When it comes to flooring, the Australian builder offers two options. One is hardwood Blackbutt with a matte finish, which is known for its warm tone and considered a luxurious choice for small spaces. The other one is natural oak laminate flooring, which is also water-resistant. This is more cost-effective and extra durable. For the bathroom, the walls come in different textures that not only ensure durability but also add a sophisticated, contemporary look.

One of the best things about this tiny home on wheels is that it enchants home dwellers with beautiful views throughout despite its compact size and space limitations. This creates an unusually strong connection to the home's natural surroundings, as well as the illusion of a wider space.

Salty Builds has a strong focus on carbon neutrality and sustainability, which is why a full solar package is an option for all its models. As a starter home for a couple or a single owner, the Nomad was also meant to be affordable. Even though it's just as luxurious as the larger designs from the same brand, its price starts at only AUD 119,120 ($80,000).

Needless to say, this particular size range is also highly popular due to its versatility. The Nomad is born for countless adventures, whether as an alternative to conventional housing or as a dainty, fully-equipped vacation rental. It's built to last for generations, and it won't go out of style too soon.
