Mazda has recently unveiled its new Mazda6 and while the world is paying close attention to the model in order to understand what it’s all about, the carmaker is already working to develop special versions of the vehicle.
We’re referring to a go-fast version of the car, a model that was present in its predecessor’s range. Hiroshi Kajiyama, the man responsible for the Mazda6, told AutoExpress that a go-fast incarnation of the car would make sense and it would also help Mazda reinforce the sporty brand image it wants to create. The hot version of the Mazda6 might use a turbocharged version of the current engine, while it may also be lighter.

And this is just half the story, as the company could also develop a coupe version of the Mazda6. Akira Tamatani, head of Mazda design, told autocar that he would love to draw such a car. In addition to that, engineers might want to fit the car with an AWD system.

However, neither of the potential models has received the green light so far, so we’ll have to wait and see if they make it into production.
