One day, while riding his bike home after a rainy day, this man got splashed by a Mercedes. He lost his balance and fell into a puddle. Angry and upset, the man went straight home and made a decision. He promised to build himself a cooler Benz than the one that took off his bike.
He started stripping down an old Mitsubishi Pajero that he had parked in his yard. Then he started building a boxy steel chassis around the floor and drivetrain. He painted the chassis black and started mounting wooden panels onto it. He first built the front fascia with the upright grille, flanked by the round headlights.

The straight hood came next, followed by the sills, roof, and pillars. It is easier with the G-Class angular body than any other vehicle. Building the Tesla Cybertruck, with all its sharp edges and straight surfaces, must have been a similar experience for the artist.

The dashboard panels easily fit into place as if he is building a Lego block, not a car. Once the body seems ready, he starts cutting and polishing to get just the right shape, identical to that of the real G.

He sleeps in his newly developed off-roader, not willing to part with it for a second and not willing to waste much time. But it is all worth it. The vehicle is rock solid, just like the G-Class off-roader has always been.

The cabin is a challenge, but days later, everything looks so… G-ish. The attention to detail is amazing. The wooden car has air vents, center console, dashboard, and screen just like the real deal. Furthermore, the steering wheel has the right shape and buttons, but seems somewhat small compared to that of the G-Class.

There is no MBUX onboard, but he came up with a purple-pink light combo that imitates the graphics of the Mercedes system. Furthermore, the grab handle in front of the passenger is right there where it should be!

The door handles, the visible door hinges, the exhaust pipes protruding out on the side, and the turn signals mounted up next to the hood, all the iconic features of the model find their own place on the vehicle. Nothing seems to be missing. The AMG-specific vertical slats, supporting the Mercedes-Benz star logo, show up at the front.

He uses a special lacquer for the entire body and paint to make some contrasts between different components. His brand-new wooden Mercedes-AMG G 63 has all the windows functional, has a sunroof, and sports windshield wipers.

The build is the work of art crafted by the owner of the ND - Woodworking Art YouTube channel. The 2024 Mercedes-AMG G 63 starts at $183,000 in the United States. But that's definitely not made of wood.

The artist behind all the projects, from Rolls-Royces to bikes, from tanks to race cars, describes himself as an engineer, automotive enthusiast, woodworking hobbyist, and arguably, the dad of the year. We’d dare add "genius" to that list.
