A man from Perkins Township, Ohio, called the cops after a fight with his estranged teenage son and, when he was asked to wait in the patrol car, he called 911 again. This time, to complain about the air conditioning.
Of all the 911 calls you can think of, this is perhaps the silliest, especially considering that the guy was calling from inside the police cruiser to make a complaint about the cruiser itself. During this time, the officer was only feet away from him, speaking with the son.
It happened at the weekend, in the parking lot of a local mall, Fox 8 Cleveland reports. Keith Oshoski called the police and told the officer that his teen son had assaulted him. The cop got his side of the story and then kindly asked him to wait in the back of the patrol car, while he interviewed the son, who had just returned to the scene.
At some point, the cop goes back to the car and asks Oshoski if he’s ok or he needs a window open, to which Oshoski replies that he’s ok. A few minutes later, he dialed 911 to complain that he was sitting in the backseat of a police cruiser and that he couldn’t breathe because the air conditioning wasn’t on.
“He has me in the back of the patrol car and he has no air on,” Oshoski says in the call. “It's shut off and the windows are up and I cannot breathe. It's very, very hot in here. I'm sorry to call you.”
Oshoski claims that he tried to get the officer’s attention on several occasions but wasn’t able to. As a last resort, he used his cell to dial 911 and ask for help because he didn’t see what else could be done.
Chief Robb Parthemore isn’t buying what Oshoski’s selling. “I think he could probably could have knocked on the window to try to get the officer’s attention instead. I think 911 could be used for other resources, more important, more urgent resources,” he says.
Oshoski will not be charged for the 911 call but both he and his son are looking at disorderly conduct charges for the incident in the parking lot, which required police intervention.
