The strangest things can happen when you’re waiting at the traffic light and not all of them are pleasant. Two undercover officers from Newcastle, Australia, can vouch to that.
They were in an unmarked vehicle in Newcastle, when a pedestrian attacked the driver. The incident was captured on a dashcam and the video was released to the media. The attacker is already in custody, having been denied bail at a first hearing, the Daily Mail reports.

As seen in the footage available at the bottom of the page, the man is crossing the street, while cars are waiting at the red light. From the moves he makes, you can tell he gets into some sort of argument with the occupants of the white pickup truck: this is when the cops in the next car sounded the siren at him to get him to stop, the Mail says.

“Police said the officers were preventing the man, who had ‘unleashed a violent outburst’ towards the occupants of a nearby car,” the publication writes. “The officers blew their siren to get his attention.”

The dude stopped and seemed to be on his way, but he then returned and, through the open window on the driver side, punched and kicked the police officer at the wheel. The attack was brutal and very sudden, which is apparent even in the blurry video captured by the other motorist.

“In a response, the male directed his violent behavior toward the detectives with an unprovoked attack, kicking the police vehicle and punching the driver through an open window,”
police say, as cited by the same publication.

The passenger got out and engaged in a short foot chase of the suspect. He caught the suspect and used capsicum spray on him, before cuffing him. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with “assault on police causing actual bodily harm, malicious damage and resisting arrest.” He was denied bail and is waiting his next court date.
