Bold, futuristic, sculpted like never before. This is how a future production version Ram truck could look like, given these latest rendering released by the American company.
The three designs in the gallery above have not been penned by one of FCA’s hired designers, but come from the minds of three high school students. They are the winning projects that have been submitted as part of the Drive for Design competition.

Drive for Design is an FCA initiative that has been around for the past 8 years or so. Headed by the company’s design lead, Mark Trostle, the competition aims to get students involved in automotive design with FCA’s various brands at the center of their projects – last year, for instance, students’ designs had to focus on Alfa Romeo.

Launched in February, this year’s Drive for Design focused on Ram, and asked students to imagine the future of the trucks manufactured with the said badge.

FCA did not say how many submissions it received, but on Friday, May 8, it announced the winners, and the trucks depicted in the gallery above are it. The one that is the main photo, called Magma Ram, has been drawn by a Santa Clara student, and is the overall winner.

The other two are an electric Ram, and the Ram 1500 Series A.

"All of the work was impressive, everything was very focused with remarkable attention to detail as well as his creative process; these are characteristics that we look for when we are going to hire designers to work at FCA," said in a statement Mark Trostle.

“Automotive design is a growing field, and parents and students often overlook it, our goal is to inspire and change that perspective. There are many careers available in automotive design where young designers will have the opportunity to create some of the most exciting and technologically advanced products, as well as create anything for the future.
