From the development of new models to harking back to the past with eye-watering expensive vehicles like the recently-unveiled Type 66, Lotus has a lot on its plate. The expansion of the lineup will also see them launch a battery-electric sedan that was recently caught in the open yet again.
This prototype of the Lotus Type 133 Envya looks more production-ready than ever. The camouflage is thinner and less trippy this time, revealing more of the exterior design.

One of the highlights up front represents the stacked lighting signature, with the dual DRLs sitting above the main clusters with their slender styling. Featuring a large air intake, the front bumper is on the edgy side. It incorporates a splitter-like piece at the lower side and the usual parking sensors.

The profile looks virtually the same as before, sporting the charging port on the left front fender, flush-mounted door handles, and cameras instead of side mirrors. We can also see a Lidar sensor on the roof, as well as additional sensors all around, including the ones on the new wheels. Out back, it soldiers on with only a few tweaks, like the diffuser, which appears to be slightly different.

With the interior already opening up to the camera a few months ago, we already know what to expect. It will reportedly feature seating for four and five, depending on the configuration, and will borrow many things from the Eletre. Thus, look for the same digital dials, infotainment system, and several buttons and knobs. It could also get a full-length center console in the four-seater variant, or so the rumor mill says anyway. We'd also expect a four-zone climate control, additional small displays, ambient lighting, and maybe a premium sound system.

It has been reported that Lotus' Type 133 Envya will get the same powertrains as its crossover sibling, which enjoys 603 hp (612 ps/450 kW) and 524 lb-ft (710 Nm) of torque from its dual motors that are fed by a 112 kWh battery pack. The Eletre needs 4.5 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 kph), and the Envya should be even faster. Joining the family will be the alleged range-topping variant believed to add the R suffix. This model is expected with over 900 horsepower in total, and it should be able to sprint to sixty-two miles per hour in under three seconds.

Full details will likely be released when the vehicle is ready to hit the assembly line, and that might happen towards the end of the year, with production understood to commence in 2024. The Lotus Type 133 Envya will take on the likes of the Porsche Taycan, Tesla Model S, Audi e-tron GT, and BMW i5, so it needs to be very good if it wants to dream about stealing some sales from its challengers.
