On December 1st, the peeps at Stellantis recognized that certain radio software on the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying on the touchscreen infotainment system. Although it’s a small issue at first glance, this condition doesn’t comply with federal motor vehicle safety standard 111 for rear visibility.
Precisely seven units of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are called back according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which lists a production window ranging between October 23rd and October 26th.

The culprit comes in the guise of component number 68527730AD, which is available on the Mopar online store at $899 sans discount and shipping. Manufactured by Harman Automotive Customer Group America, the infotainment system fits the Wagoneer Series II and Series III along with the Grand Wagoneer Series I, Series II, Series III, and Obsidian trim level.

Stellantis will notify customers of the issue on February 9th by first-class mail, and the remedy instructions are pretty straightforward. More specifically, the dealership needs to reflash the software via the USB port.

Step by step, the service tech installs a battery charger, removes all devices from the media hub, inserts a flash drive containing the remedy software, follow the infotainment system’s prompts, verify the software’s version, remove the USB stick, then connect the diagnostic pod for the final setup.

In addition to reprogramming the radio, Stellantis will reimburse customers who have incurred the cost of repairing this problem out of their own pockets prior to the recall. The Detroit-based automaker will request customers to send any proof of payment to the company for confirmation.

Currently, the most expensive Jeep in the lineup, the Ram 1500-based Wagoneer and luxed-up Grand Wagoneer are offered at $69,440 and $88,440 before the $2,000 destination charge. The Grand Wagoneer Series III happens to be the most expensive trim level available right now at $104,845.
