Just like we reported in September, Holden received the hot version of the Chevy Sonic. The Barina RS is basically the same car, now on sale in Australia from $20,990.
This is actually just one addition to the Barina range for 2014, with different models receiving price cuts or extra kit.

The hot Barina packs GM's 1.4-liter turbo engine rated at 103 kW (140 PS) and 200 Nm of torque. With the standard manual gearbox, the Barina RS goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds. Combined fuel economy is 6.5 l/100km, showing the benefits of a turbo engine. For $23,190, the Barina RS gains an automatic gearbox, for ease of use.

The cool thing about the Barina RS is that even though it has leather seat and a touchscreen infotainment system, it's actually cheaper than the Suzuki Swift Sport, which has a less impressive 1.6-liter NA engine.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
