Remember how the Texas tuner recently enticed us to its latest testing project with a video of the brand-new McLaren 765LT hitting 204 mph on the track? Well, the Sealy, Houston-based aftermarket specialist is back with an even bigger hint that something cool is brewing in the shop.
Taking a look at Hennessey’s expansive model range, which also includes the all-new Venom F5 and a wide array of rumbling VelociRaptors, Mammoths, and even other types of Venoms, among others – shows the McLaren 765LT doesn’t have an upgrade package... yet.

Still, the company is renewing the hope that something will change in the near future, as back in January, it took a completely stock 765LT and casually took it out for a speedy run of 204 mph (328 kph). That’s just under the company’s rating of 205 mph (330 kph), and the rev counter seemed to have a little more space to play – possibly suggesting it might be capable of more.

Well, anyone with a little bit of mechanical knowledge would take that idea with a grain of salt. But now there’s reason to believe that McLaren is indeed underrating its performance figures for the 765LT. That’s because Hennessey is back with another test for their (still) “completely stock” example, with the British supercar this time around being strapped to the dyno for a traditional Dynojet run.

Their query was simple – find out how much (real) power does the 2021 McLaren 765LT deliver to the rear wheels. After a series of warmup runs, the Texas tuner went all out in the fifth gear for a couple of full-blown attempts. Initially, the British supercar was run on standard 93-octane gasoline, coming out with no less than 747 rear-wheel horsepower.

Then, after the 765LT was allowed to cool off for an hour or so, the team decided to up the stakes quite a bit, adding into the mix 2.5 gallons of MS109 unleaded race fuel just because they wanted “to see what would happen.” Naturally, the supercar immediately jumped the ratings to no less than 780 RWHP! So, does anyone dare to say those rev ups from the 1:20 mark aren’t subliminal teases for great things to come?!
