Showcased for the first time almost a year ago, the McLaren 765LT is the latest – and greatest – example of the company’s Super Series 'Longtail' range of sports cars. It’s also a statement about the development potential of the spectacular 720S; and a great platform for some additional tuning if we correctly interpret Hennessey’s latest hint.
For this barely legal track weapon, McLaren went about its usual business. The folks from Woking took the 720S, stretched it because we’re dealing with an LT, and thoroughly upgraded just about everything they could get their engineering hands upon.

Thus, the Macca ended up sporting 765 PS (755 hp) and some performance specifications that would make any other supercar on the planet green with envy. If the factory figures of 2.8 seconds to 62 mph (100 kph) and 205 mph (330 kph) top speed are not enough, here are a couple of real-world instances that no one will dare argue with.

The first one took place at the drag strip, where the 765LT independently crowned itself as the new quarter-mile worldwide ruler with a 9.4-second pass at 150 mph (241 kph) on factory tires. Just to put that into perspective, it’s better than McLaren’s own 9.9s judgment and the 9.65s nailed by the all-mighty Dodge Demon.

Now there’s another proof, coming from none other than Hennessey Performance. Granted, it’s not as long or even as impressive as the story revolving around that spectacular pass.

But this short footage of the instrument cluster of a 765LT has a teaser atmosphere written all over it. Sure, the description saying the McLaren 765LT is undergoing “testing” is also helping us make the assessment.

For now, we have no idea what’s in store for the 765LT dwelling in Texas, since Hennessey hasn’t shared additional details, just yet. Still, given the company’s continuously expanding roster of vehicles and the fact that its McLaren box only covers the 570, 600LT, and the 720S – we can only imagine wonderful things are being prepared for the 765LT.
