Many believe that the Ford F-150 Raptor has untapped off-road potential. But while bigger tires and a suspension lift seem like the logical choice, this guy decided to turn his truck into a tank instead.
You're looking at the work of YouTuber Westen Champlin, the same guy who did a Cummins swap into the Ford Mustang. And while this isn't actually the first time a Raptor has been fitted with tank tracks, we feel like his low-budget take is just as fun as Ken Block's video.

Now, let's get one thing straight; these aren't actual tank tracks. Tanks weighs many times more than a pickup truck and their propulsion systems aren't tied to the wheel hubs of an F-150. No, these are snow tracks, a piece of hardware that can be fitted to a variety of vehicles, even ones as small as an Impreza.

They work best at ski resorts, but since there's not a lot of skiing going on this year, maybe they were on sale when Westen picked them up. They arrived via what must be the most knowledgeable delivery truck driver, who knew what they were for and wished the builder luck in his undertakings.

Champlin’s original plan for the Raptor Tank was to bolt up these things and drive the truck up a mountain in the snow. But since he lives in Kansas and it's 72 degrees outside, he settles for a drive into town instead. Yes, that's right, the YouTuber takes this abomination down the main street and gets a fitting amount of attention.

People just want to ask questions, which is totally understandable. Pushing his luck, the tank driver presses on to a drive-through, where he orders some ice cream and attracts the attention of local law enforcement. Fortunately, they're more interested in taking photos than figuring out if Champlin's vehicle is road-legal or not - or maybe this is evidence.
