The scooter world is heating up on the grounds of the EICMA show in Milan this week, with more than one interesting addition to this side market of the moto industry coming to please the crowds and draw the blitzes.
Among the multitude of scooters, Honda has brought to the event the Silver Wing T600 GT, the 2011 version of what the bike maker likes to call its megascooter. The touring scooter draws its name from the GL500 and GL650 motorcycle series. Also, some motorcycle attributes and design cues can be seen on it as well.
The success of the model made Honda develop more versions of the scooter than we can count. Pretty much, the lineup revolves around a 582cc liquid-cooled four-stroke parallel-twin engine, with an appetite which brings it in the 46 mpg range (5.1l/100 km).
The scooters come packing high end technologies like Honda V-Matic belt-drive system, Combined Braking System and optional ABS.
“The Silver Wing is not just a fun, economical way to get around town, it can take you as far as you want to go,” Honda says about its star scooter.
“The Silver Wing gets you there in comfort and style. Sleek and freeway-friendly, with a fuel-injected 582cc DOHC engine, fully automatic CVT transmission, and room for two in the cockpit, the Silver Wing is truly a scooter that does it all.”
Unfortunately for Honda, most of the attention of the people attending the event has been drawn by its other models: CBR125R, CBR600F, CBR250R, CB1000R, as well as the New Mid Concept.
