About a month ago Chrysler said it will be recalling approximately 421 Dodge Darts equipped with the Mopar 13 trim package to fix seat-mounted side airbags that have have been installed improperly.
Today, the Pentastar company updated the recall, reducing the number of units affected to 374, which is still a lot considering that the special edition Mopar ’13 Dart is built in only 500 examples.
“In the affected vehicles, the front seat mounted side airbags (SAB) may not have been properly installed into the seat. In the event of a crash necessitating SAB development, the SABs may fail to deploy as intended, increasing the risk of injury,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a bulletin.
Chrysler will inspect the vehicles and reinstall the side airbags if necessary at no cost to the owners. Customers may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403, with recall campaign number N61.
As a reminder, the Dodge Dart Mopar ’13 is offered in a gloss-black with Mopar Blue stripes exterior, an aerodynamic kit, gloss-black 18-inch wheels and Mopar badging. The interior features black leather seats with black accents, while power is provided by a 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo engine.
