The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept was one of the most important premieres of 2022. Not only because it provides a glimpse of the brand's future muscle car but also because it features an all-quiet powertrain. That's right, despite staying true to the design of past models, it is all about the future.
Dodge has gone as far as releasing some very impressive numbers, stating that it will be available with both pure-rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The 800-volt technology will be a highlight of the latter, whereas the former will feature a 400-volt architecture. As for the entry-level variants, they will have 455 and 590 horsepower available on tap.
Is that not enough to quench your power thirst? Then you will have to opt for the eStage 1 or eStage 2. The eStage 1 lifts the output of the lesser model to 535 hp, and the sStage 2 brings 630 hp in the entry-level and 670 hp in the top-of-the-line flavor. The instant thrust and modern packaging will likely allow the range-topper to eat Hellcats for breakfast, even if it has less power.
And speaking of that, we wouldn't be surprised to learn that an even punchier variant is in the works, maybe bringing close to 1,000 horsepower or slightly more. After all, the Demon 170 boasts no less than 1,025 horsepower from its heavily modified supercharged 6.2-liter V8. The world's most powerful muscle car takes a whopping 1.66 seconds from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in perfect conditions and needs 8.91 seconds to deal with the quarter mile at 151.17 mph (243.28 kph).
Now, it will be a while until Dodge launches an all-electric muscle car, so in the meantime, EV enthusiasts are left with the study mentioned above. The Charger Daytona SRT is one appealing proposal, and since its official premiere a little over a year ago, it has been unofficially imagined in different attires. We've even seen a convertible take on it, and the latest set of renderings, which came courtesy of 412donklife on Instagram, imagine it in very brash duds.
Don't call it a donk, as it is not a 1971-1976 Chevrolet Impala or a Caprice, even though it rocks the flashy looks like a champ. Bearing the signature of Forgiato, as per the red center caps, the oversized alloys probably measure around 30 inches in diameter. This Charger Daytona SRT wears a white paint finish, has black trim, and privacy windows all around. Elsewhere, it does not seem to have been changed at all, and between us, this is one sexy proposal. But do you agree? And more importantly, would you embrace the inevitable electric muscle car future with open arms?
