The Porsche 911 represents six decades of greatness. It is a true automotive phenomenon. It is the car that turned the German brand into an automotive icon and the embodiment of the company's relentless pursuit of sports car excellence.
Over 1.2 million 911 sportscars have been produced between 1963 and 2023, but none as grandiose as the one the carmaker has built for the IAA Mobility trade fair, which is currently taking place in the city center of Munich, Germany. We are talking about a giant 911 sculpture that is part of the Porsche display space at the mobility event. It mimics the unique silhouette of the iconic car and serves as the automaker's exhibition stand at the IAA Open Space.

"This sculpture is first and foremost a symbol representing the many stories and experiences of enthusiasts, fans, and customers that have shaped the iconic image of the 911 worldwide," declared Ragnar Schulte, Head of Experiential Marketing at Porsche.

The 911 made its world debut at the IAA exactly 60 years ago, and the massive reusable construction was built as an homage to the sports car icon. The automaker's presentation area on Wittelsbacherplatz in downtown Munich covers no less than 1,000 square meters (0.2471 acres), and the true stars are displayed inside the larger-than-life 911 silhouette.

Both modern and classic cars are on display at the Open Space, including the new Porsche 911 S/T, which is shown to the public for the first time. The new special edition model, which was built to honor 60 years of sports car thrills, is limited to just 1,963 units as a nod to the original 911's debut year and brings together the best features of the 911 GT3 with Touring Package and the 911 GT3 RS.

The spectacular Porsche Mission X concept is on display as well and has already conquered the hearts of many of the trade's visitors. The concept is a futuristic two-seat hypercar with a powerful and efficient electric powertrain that has been designed to showcase the company's heritage and pursue of innovation.

The company has also brought a fleet of Taycans to the IAA show to allow visitors to experience electromobility via accompanied test drives. Those more interested in micromobility and environmentally friendly ways to get around town can also try out Porsche's e-bikes.

The company's stand, which is open free of charge to visitors until September 9, also runs an on-stage program with two presentations: "Brave New Love" and “911 Love Stories." While the first focuses on the latest innovations from the brand, the latter is meant to celebrate Porsche 911's 60th anniversary.

The imposing 911 silhouette is also a nice background for selfies, which explains why the construction has been a crowd favorite during the first days of the mobility show. A photo box installed on site allows visitors to take a picture with it. There are also hostesses who will take Polaroid photos of guests on demand.
