Of course it was supposed to be expensive. It is a premium super SUV with so much horsepower that it makes supercars jealous. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid configurator is now up and running, and the model starts at $148,550.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that works alongside an electric motor for an insane total of 729 horsepower (739 PS) and 700 lb-ft (949 Nm) of torque.

Those figures make it the most powerful Porsche Cayenne has ever built. The car can flash from 0 to 60 mph (0 - 97 kph) in 3.5 seconds before it goes all the way to 183 mph (295 kph).

The configurator for the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is now live and starts with what can turn out to be the most expensive of the options. Customers can go for White or Black, or choose any metallic color for no extra money. But they can also go for a Paint to Sample shade for the price of a compact car: $13,150.

The most expensive wheels are those that come in 22 inches. We selected the 22-inch Exclusive Design Sport Wheels in Chromite Black for $4,060.

For the cabin, we selected the Club Leather in Basalt Black/Barrique Red with Cross-Stitching for $2,260.

We also ticked the massage seat function, which comes with seat ventilation and four-zone climate control, for almost $4,000. The Sport Design Package in Carbon Fiber adds $8,670 more to the final price.

The panoramic sunroof is one nice feature to have, so we checked that box as well for $1,560. The Sport Chrono Package brings that Porsche Design Subsecond Clock into the dashboard, so that is one thing that can't be missed.

We also thought we'd need the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control for over $3,000 and the Composite Brakes with calipers in high gloss black for almost $10,000. The Thermally & Noise Insulated Glass would come in handy for driving at highway speeds for $1,170. The HD-Matrix headlights in black and exclusive design taillights are surely not something to ignore. We wouldn't mind the heated GT Sport Steering wheel in leather either for $680.

Bespoke illuminated door-sill guards in carbon fiber can be selected for $3,060.

When it comes to safety, we can't possibly skip the Night Vision Assistant ($2,310), the Surround View with Active Parking Support ($1,620), and the Adaptive Cruise Control ($1,420). Meanwhile, the Burmester 3D High-End Surround Sound System is $5,810.

If you want your Porsche to be delivered in Los Angeles, at the Porsche Experience Center, you have to pay $1,000 more.

So we ended up with a $216,800 car, destination charge included. And we were far from checking all the option boxes available. That is almost Lamborghini Urus money. Or the price of a Macan S.
