Currently, everyone and their mother is probably wondering if the upcoming 800+ hp, $300k Ford Mustang GTD really has what it takes to take down the 992-series Porsche 911 GT3 RS off its sports car pedestal.
Well, maybe that's an exaggeration because only automotive enthusiasts think of this in the wake of the incredible, spectacular, outrageous, mind-bending Monterey Car Week 2023. Imagine that this Californian string of events was so grandiose that Rolls-Royce, the author of La Rose Noire, simply postponed the introduction of their second Droptail Coachbuild commission, Amethyst Droptail, until after the dust settled on the coastal region.

But it's safe to say that everyone is thinking about what happened there. Well, again, save for the folks that are now finally taking delivery of their limited-edition off-road sports cars from Porsche and Lamborghini, that is. For those folks – it's more important to thrash around their 911 Dakar and Huracan Sterrato gems across all sorts of different terrain situations, including deserts and the outskirts of Nürburgring's Nordschleife.

More precisely, some people like to think about what's in hand, not what comes next. Oh darn, there we go, missed the mark again – as the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is constantly preoccupied with dreams. However, sometimes, they also imagine things that may come soon. And there's no need to take our word for granted, as we have an eloquent example.

Just recently, the good folks over at car.design.trends have again focused our attention on this unofficial project made by an older acquaintance - zida_ren. Named Ren Zida, this automotive designer was, until recently, a senior artist at Mercedes-Benz China but has since changed his work situation to Senior Designer at Tesla. No worries; his unofficial virtual artist skills were left intact during the transition.

As such, after previously showing us cool stuff like a Rolls-Royce Off-Road Coupe born out of a collaboration with Stable Diffusion (an AI design tool) or the Apple sports car and Lamborghini's super-SUV dialed to eleven, now the pixel master decided to tackle the perspective of making what is presumably the next-gen Porsche 911 a 4x4 model from the get-go.

In the process of morphing, the author integrated novel design elements to warrant the trouble of calling this Porsche 911 all-new and also envisioned a slightly different profile that could serve as a placeholder for other off-road sports cars. Even better, he also gave us a few alternate options – from Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW, of course.

So, which one is your favorite? And do consider there is also a second Porsche release candidate – a modified Macan EV featuring just two doors and the looks of a grand tourer on stilts!
