British aficionado Chris Harris was involved in an accident yesterday, with the man being behind the wheel of his Porsche 911 GT3 at the time.
And while photos of the damaged Zuffenhausen machine have shown up, the Top Gear host has now turned to social media to shed some light on the matter.

As you can notice in the second Instagram post below, the 911 GT3 Touring Package driven by the famous gear head has suffered serious front-end damage. Fortunately, as Harris states on Instagram, neither he, nor his passenger (unlike many Neunelfers, the GT3 is a two-seater) was wounded in the crash.

The accident apparently took place due to a pickup truck driver deciding to do a three-point turn in the middle of the road, as Harris explains on Instagram: "Came around a corner yesterday to find a pick-up doing a 3-point turn broadside, in the middle of the road. Unavoidable. Just one of those things. The Porsche 911 looked after us brilliantly. No one hurt, cars can be replaced,"

The petrol head also delivers a few details from the police report on the accident, confirming that the accident wasn't his fault: "Police confirmed speed wasn't a factor. And I wasn't the one issued a penalty notice,"

Motoring journalists don't get more love than Chris Harris, with the Brit being popular for his enthusiastic reviews and his car wielding skills. However, his current work for Top Gear is under pressure, as producers are struggling to find the right lineup for the show.

Nevertheless, here's Harris brilliantly doing his motoring job on his own in an Audi RS4 video.

As for the chap's Porscha, we showed you the car back in February this year. Upon taking delivery of the car, Harris, who is a massive Porschephile, said he was "the happiest man on earth".

Now, judging by the statement above, the 911 GT3 TP might not return to the road. So here's to hoping CH regains his rear-engined happiness soon.

Good to hear @harrismonkey and passenger weren’t hurt in an accident this afternoon 🙌🏼! His GT3 touring is now looking a little sorry for itself though, wonder if it will be written off or not? #GT3Touring #ChrisHarris
