All-New 2025 Infiniti QX80 Will Sing a High-Placed Tune With Help From Jon Batiste

Previewed by the QX Monograph Concept introduced last year, the all-new 2025 Infiniti QX80 is due on March 20, 2024 (goes live at 7 PM ET) and should start at roughly $80k but, more importantly, will ditch the ugly duckling styling in favor of a sleeker design. The dated appearance isn't a surprise – the first generation of the Infiniti QX80 (known as QX56 before 2013) full-size luxury SUV arrived in 2004 based on the Nissan Armada and was produced locally in the United States.

The second iteration, though, switched to Japan assembly based on the sixth-generation Patrol (and later the second-gen Armada), and that happened way back in 2010. Now, almost a decade and a half later, the current iteration, which starts at around $74k in America, is older than granny's tooth despite the double facelift procedure from 2015 and 2018. As such, no one can deny that a third generation was long overdue.

Curiously, even this one has left everyone waiting for a long time – and countless renderings, spies, and teasers later, we are finally on the straight line to the reveal. The official event is scheduled for March 20 at 7 PM ET, and Infiniti has revealed its venue – the physical reveal will take place at Edge in Hudson Yards, New York City. In case you didn't know, Edge is the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere – a protruding 100-story-high observation deck with a glass floor, bar, and 360-degree NYC views.

The premium arm of Nissan is certainly sparing no expense, and, in partnership with iHeartMedia, will livestream the reveal, which also features a performance by Jon Batiste, a legendary singer, songwriter, and composer. Meanwhile, in the background, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 flagship SUV will literally "take luxury to new heights." Teased on countless occasions already, Infiniti has so far confirmed that it's dropping the 5.6-liter VK56VD V8 engine in favor of a new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 hooked to a nine-speed automatic transmission packing 450 hp (+50 hp) and 515 pound-feet (698 Nm), which is another 102 pound-feet (138 Nm) over the V8.

Inside, the Infiniti QX 80 will feature a pair of 14.3-inch displays – for the instrument cluster and the dashboard touchscreen serving the infotainment system with Google built-in and an optional Individual Audio system using Klipsch headrest speakers. Other included technologies are the Front Wide View with a 170-degree wide vantage point, the Invisible Hood View, and Biometric Cooling, among others. The Infiniti QX80 will also arrive on display at the 2024 New York International Auto Show, which takes place for the general audience between March 29 and April 7.
