It seems that Alfa Romeo is one of the cockiest brands around town – or the world, for that matter. But what they lack in real life is more than made up for across the virtual realm.
For example, the Italian brand recently claimed it posted the "strongest growth of global premium" marques in 2023. The results were quite positive, indeed, with a jump of 30% on a worldwide level compared to 2022. This was mainly due to the debut of the Tonale compact crossover SUV and the continued attention bestowed upon the facelifted Giulia sedan and Stelvio crossover SUV.
The company will probably carry the momentum forward. Later this year (April 10), they are set to reveal the Milano subcompact crossover SUV that's coming where the MiTo once stood as a passenger car. This is an all-new development solely for Alfa Romeo, while inside the world of Stellantis is just another derivative of the CMP-based CUVs like the Peugeot 2008, Opel Mokka, DS Automobiles DS 3 Crossback, Jeep Avenger, or the all-new Fiat 600.
However, we can easily dispute the "strongest growth" affirmation because when Toyota posted its record sales for 2023 and kept its title as the world's largest automaker, its titular brand was aided in the feat by the Lexus subsidiary, which teleported to a record performance of 824k units last year, up 132% compared to 2022. That's 102% more than Alfa Romeo, so I don't really see their bragging point.
Alas, I would be willing to forget about the transgression if they, for once, listened to the rumor mill and the imaginative realm of digital car content creators – all of which have constantly asked Alfa Romeo to give us a derivative of the Giulia that would better fight the station wagon body style of the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and Audi A4 Avant.
For example, Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks now is the right time to CGI-work on yet another feisty station wagon after he recently concluded some magic work on the newly introduced 660-example Audi RS 6 Avant GT special edition. Maybe he even heard that Audi promised it would keep on churning out high-performance estates like the RS 4 Avant, too.
Anyway, this is not the first time this pixel master dreams of a feisty Alfa Romeo Giulia Wagon, and even though this one doesn't explicitly include Quadrifoglio in its title, we would dare to assume it's a given – all because the BMW M3 Touring is out there waiting for actual competition after hunting down all RS 4 Avants. Additionally, it also comes with an unofficial evolution of the new Alfa Romeo face. So, what do you think? Could this represent a threat to the established German triumvirate?
