The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO is here with all of its 420 horsepower, looks that turn heads, and track behavior that will surely get enthusiasts happy. At least, that is what Nissan pledges.
The Japanese carmaker has upgraded the aero, brought more downforce, and new tech on board. Taking inspiration from the Fairlady 240ZG, the car got a restyled front bumper with canards at each corner to create vortexes over the front wheels and splitter that Nissan affectionately calls the Grand Nose or G-Nose, now extending further forward. And they are not there just for the show! They are as functional as can be when Nissan mentions improved aerodynamics.

The front fascia sports a redesigned radiator grille with the thinnest honeycomb mesh of any Nissan production car. Contrasting red accents are a hint to the fact that we're dealing with a special version of the Z.

New sills reduce drag and lift, and so does the new design of the rear bumper. The new Nissan Z NISMO rides on 19-inch Rays wheels in gloss black, specifically designed for it, with new Dunlop SP Sport MAXX GT600 tires. The rubber at the rear is 10 millimeters wider than that of the Z Performance (285/35R19 versus 275/35R19).

Customers will be able to check one of the five boxes for the paint jobs available in the lineup: Black Diamond Pearl, Brilliant Silver, Passion Red TriCoat, Everest Pearl TriCoat, and Stealth Grey.

New stabilizer bars, a stiffer spring rate, a stiffened chassis, retuned dampers, and enhanced suspension improve handling.

The 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 got better cooling, increased turbocharger boost, and turbine speed. It now churns out 420 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque, 20 horsepower and 34 lb-ft more over the standard version.

But what enthusiasts would love from that standard version is the six-speed manual gearbox which is not available for the Z NISMO. Customers will have to resort to the nine-speed automatic.

If it is any consolation, Nissan claims that the improved engine management software cuts downshift times by almost 50% compared to those of the Z Performance.

Launch control and a Sport+ drive mode are on the menu. The Sport+ pledges a more intense racetrack-tuned shift program that make the driver feel like there is really no need to use the shift paddles.

There are interesting, sports-focused mods on board as well, but Nissan claims the engineers tried to avoid the unnecessary visual "noise." The start/stop button and the driving modes buttons are anodized red, while the graphics of the fully digital TFT instrument cluster has been improved. Amazon Alexa Built-in connectivity is there to simplify the owner's life. An 8-inch touchscreen enhances the high tech atmosphere on board the Z NISMO.

Recaro seats and a new steering wheel with a race-inspired red mark at the 12 o'clock position, in leather and Alcantara, are there to highlight the sporty nature of the model. The NISMO badging shows up in the headrests.

Customers will be able to choose either the Sport grade or the Performance grade, with the latter sitting at the top of the lineup. It brings along a mechanical slip differential, Nissan Sport Brakes, aluminum sport pedals as well as heated power seats.

The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO goes on sale in the United States this fall. No word on pricing just yet.
