So we don't know if you've heard about this yet, but the EV is currently the only version of the Kia Soul offered in Europe right now. And even that might as well not exist because it's not as good as its competitors.
But an all-new version of the Korean box-shaped car is coming, and it too will have a pure electric version. It seems that Kia and Hyundai are playing the green crossover card, because they have more models than we can count. How do they even make so many batteries?
In any case, this prototype has been spotted in Europe, and the only thing that gives it away as fully electric is a big E on the number plate. However, we do expect it to have bespoke features that set it apart from the regular Soul, such as a fully blocked off grille that integrates the charging port.
As far as the styling is concerned, it still looks very boxy, but also way longer than before. A few character lines can be seen peaking from under the camo, including the shape of the taillights. But the big thing here is that the Soul has a double set of headlights, narrow at the top and chunky below, like the Hyundai Kona or Nissan Juke - it's a rugged crossover thing, you wouldn't understand.
A Korean rendering we published back in April should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect in the styling department. Of course, this car will be just as over-the-top on the inside too.
The Soul EV might have two powertrain versions, just like the Kona EV: 204 and 135 HP. However, the most important component is a 64kWh battery pack, which is also installed in the Niro EV and might give the Soul a range of about 470 kilometers or 250 miles according to the EPA. Expect to see the plug-in box at a big auto show in 2019.
