The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 continues to animate the racing scene and we are now here to see the slab of America duking it out with a Nissan GT-R that has been taken to the gym.
The Godzilla we have here has left its factory form far behind, with this having been pushed to around 1,100 horsepower at the wheels - the said muscle number comes from the owner of the AWD monster, as you'll notice in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page.
Of course, a stock S550 GT500 wouldn't stand a chance in a battle against such a tuner ride. Fortunately, though, this example of the 'Stang is one of the meanest in the country, at least for now. As such, the muscle beast's custom tech bits involve the air intake, throttle body, ported blower, injectors, upper pulley, X-pipe, as well as an E85 tune.
And, thanks to the said goodies, the 5.2-liter V8 of the machine now delivers around 900 horsepower at the rear wheels. As for how that muscle is being transferred to the road, this is a duty covered by Mickey Thompson ET Street R rubber, which is wrapped around a set of custom wheels.
Since we're talking velocity battles, we also have to keep in mind that the Shelby GT500 is up to 400 lbs less scale-friendly than the GT-R, at least in factory trim. As for the starting phase, there's no need to worry about the Ford, since the races we're dealing with kicked off at around 50 mph.
The two beasts duked it out on multiple occasions and if you happen to be in a rush, you should know the first race awaits you at the 3:05 point of the clip. And while this is a street fight, please don't use it as an example and make sure to head over to the track when you feel the need for speed.
