Muscle car fans of all ages, gather around and grab a seat as we just stumbled upon a great one on the second-hand market: a 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R. And it is not only in great shape, but it doesn't cost a fortune either.
But you do know what a Shelby GT350R is, don't you? It was "the most track-capable production Mustang ever built," according to Ford back in the day, as that's how they marketed it during the unveiling in 2015.

You see, instead of using turbocharging or supercharging on the Coyote engine, the Blue Oval decided to build a V8 from scratch. And it features a flat-plane crankshaft. This was the brand's most powerful naturally aspirated mill ever built at the time, and the clever aerodynamics, lightweight construction, chassis engineering, and additional upgrades helped it become a street-legal track car – in the right hands, obviously.

Power-wise, it had 527 hp (535 ps/393 kW) produced at 7,500 rpm and 429 pound-feet (582 Nm) of torque at 4,750 rpm when it rolled off the line. For the 2020 model year, Ford gave it a few additional goodies that came from its punchier sibling, the Shelby GT500, like the redesigned front suspension geometry with a new high-trail steering knuckle. Additional upgrades comprised the new steering rack and recalibrated power steering control. And that's right before they pulled the plug on it, as neither the GT350 nor the GT350R lived past the 2021MY.

Now, back to the pictured Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R, it is a 2020 car with only 4,747 miles (7,640 km) under its belt. Finished in Twister Orange on top of the black interior with a few pink accents, it has a single owner in the papers, and it's said to be car number 227 out of 567 produced. As far as the particular exterior color goes, only 21 units were made, the Garage Kept Motors listing claims. Thus, this particular vehicle ticks the right boxes for real collectors, as it is rather rare, hasn't seen that much action since it came to life, and has been in the possession of the same owner, which is now looking to part ways with it.

So, how much do you think this 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350R costs? That would be $59,900, thank you very much. A quick look on Ford's official US website reveals that it is less pricey than the new 2024 Mustang Dark Horse. The latter has an MSRP of $59,720, and that doesn't include the destination charge and dealer fees. But if you were in the market for a fun-to-drive Ford within this price range, which one would you spend your money on? Would it be the GT350R, the Dark Horse, or a different model?
