The Mercedes-Benz proposal for the compact MPV segment of the market, the B-Class, is officially here, after the car’s presentation at the Paris Motor show in October.
As the model is expected to be on the shelves in early 2019, Mercedes announced this week the prices in Germany for the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer contender.
There will be four versions of the new B-Class on sale in Germany, starting with the entry level B 180 (136 hp) and ending with the top of the range B 220 d (190 hp). The price for the former has been set at 31.874 EUR while the latter costs 39.264 EUR. A total of five engine variants will be available, in between the aforementioned two sitting the B200 (163 hp), B180d (116 hp), B200d (150 hp).
All of the engines fitted into the B-Class will be mated to either seven or eight-speed dual-clutch transmissions, with the latter being used for the first time in the range.
Of course, the tons of options that can be fitted on one of these cars, be it Multibeam LED headlights or the driving assistance package, will send future buyers back well above those official prices.
The B-Class is now in its third generation, is designed by the Germans to “stand out visually from the world of minivans.”
The car rides on a longer wheelbase than the outgoing model, with a length of 2,729 mm, which translates into more room for the people inside: driver and passengers sit 90 mm higher than in the A-Class, and the cargo capacity increases to 1,540 liters with the backrests fully reclined, and the seats moved forward by about 14 centimeters.
The B-Class is offered as standard with a touchscreen, part of the MBUX infotainment system which debuted on the A-Class earlier in the year, while an augmented reality navigation display is also available.
Full pricing information on the new B-Class can be found in the document attached below.
