The world of superbikes is getting a major new player starting the 2019 model year after Italian motorcycle builder Aprilia spilled the full specs for its newest interpretation of the flagship model, the RSV4.
Both the RR and Factory versions of the RSV4 have been tweaked for the new model year, with modifications being made to the chassis and electronics. But it’s the changes made to the engine that Aprilia hopes will make all the difference.

First off, the displacement of the engine has increased from 999 cc to 1078 cc thanks to the use of new pistons. By deploying a Magneti Marelli 7SM ECU with a new specific map and limiter management set at 13,600 rpm, the engine can now develop 217 horsepower, 16 hp more than in the street-legal factory configuration of 2017.

Aprilia says the 65° V4 engine it uses now has never before seen on a factory sport bike. The maximum torque available is also 10 percent higher than previously provided, namely 122 Nm at 11,000 rpm.

Three engine maps will be provided for riders, namely Sport, Track, and Race, all of which will be used in conjunction with the cornering ABS the bike is fitted with. All three maps are full power and are set apart by the way in which power is sent to the wheels and the percentage of engine brake.

The higher performance numbers will be coupled with the lower weight of the bike to provide better yet unspecified performances when compared to what came before. According to Aprilia, the RSV4 1100 Factory with a full tank weighs 199 kg.

“The RSV4 project has always pursued a stated goal: to be the absolute best and fastest uncompromising superbike, the one that comes the closest to Aprilia racing bikes in terms of performance and effectiveness,” said Aprilia in a statement.

“Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory – the latest step in this evolutionary line – boasts exceptional performance combined with a racing frame, suspension, and electronics package, each evolved even further.”

Pricing and release date for the 2019 Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory were not announced. You can read all the details on the new bike in the document attached below.
