2012 Mazda3 Skyactiv US Pricing Announced

The Mazda6 isn’t looking so well right now, but the Japanese automaker has a couple of new spearheads to take on the industry with. The most important one is the introduction of their Skyactiv technology for both engines and transmissions, which promise to dramatically cut consumption.
The North American division of Mazda has announced US pricing for their refreshed Mazda3 that’s making its presence felt in the showrooms. The car is available both as a four-door sedan and a five-door hatch, with base pricing announced at $15,200 (not including the $795 destination charge).

For the money, you’ll be able to own a 2012 Mazda3 i SV sedan fitted with a 148 hp MZR 2.0-liter engine and a manual gearbox.
Further up the totem poll is the higher-trim i Sport sedan starts at $16,845 and is optionally available with a five-speed automatic transmission.

If you want to take advantage of the Skyactiv technologies you'll have to go for the Mazda3 i Touring or Grand Touring models that are powered by the firm's new SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine producing 155 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. Both of these are also available with the all-new SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual gearbox or the all-new SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmission for an extra $850.

The Mazda3 i Touring sedan is priced from $18,450, while the Mazda3 i Touring hatchback which gets an impressive 39 mpg on the highway will cost $500 more. The Grand Touring sedan starts at $22,300 with five-door model will set you back $22,800.
