autoevolution's Land Rover Month

Most of the companies in the business of making cars today have been born many, many decades ago. They’ve all survived to our time because of specific innovations, iconic models, unique technologies, or memorable designs. Land Rover is the sum of all that.

Somewhat younger than the others still in business, the British marque immediately established itself as the maker of some insanely capable off-road machines, which could easily take on the elements, from the scorching heat of the deserts of Africa, to the rainy skies of the highlands of Scotland.

Having had a troubled corporate existence, with many past owners trying to instill their own direction into the brand, Land Rover somehow managed to stay true to its original ethos, one so clearly personified by the moniker that is most often associated with the company: the Defender.

It is because of this resilience that we chose to honor Land Rover in February here on autoevolution, with an extensive and dedicated coverage we call Land Rover Month. For the next few weeks, Defenders past and present, family-friendly Discoveries, and the luxuriously potent Range Rovers will all flood your screens in all their might, trying to prove that, when things really matter, Brits can sure make vehicles.
