Xiaomi is one of the companies committed to delivering truly fast charging technology, and its mobile products are living proof.
Xiaomi 11T Pro sports the 120W Xiaomi HyperCharge, requiring just 17 minutes (according to the company's specs, but the actual figures shouldn't be much different) to reach 100 percent.

The Chinese tech giant has also launched 300W charging technology, allowing a phone to go from 0 to 100 percent battery in under five minutes.

Xiaomi is now planning to expand to the automotive market, and naturally, the company wants to bring its fast-charging technology to cars as well.

With the first Xiaomi-branded EV due next year, it was just a matter of time until we got a closer look at the battery specifications. According to an alleged image of the car's battery (which leaked on Chinese forums earlier this week), Xiaomi Car will likely use a 101 kWh unit tipping the scales at 642 kilos (approximately 1,415 pounds).

The battery will support 800V fast charging, but the actual times needed for charging are currently unavailable. However, based on some rough estimates, Xiaomi Car could need around 20 minutes to reach an 80 percent battery level with a compatible charger and the maximum supported speed.

Xiaomi plans to launch two versions of the Xiaomi Car. The first and more affordable model will sport a range of approximately 800 kilometers (500 miles) per charge. In comparison, the upgraded sibling with improved performance could offer 700 kilometers (around 450 miles) with a full battery. It's currently unclear whether the leaked battery unit will power the entry-level or upgraded car version.

The Chinese tech giant is conducting last-minute testing, with the car expected to debut in early 2024. Xiaomi aims for an initial production output of 300,000 vehicles, with the figures to increase gradually based on demand.

Xiaomi Car will cost at least $21,000 for the base version, while the performance-oriented configuration will sell for $24,000. Other sources claim the car could launch with a $40,000 price tag, and this information makes more sense, especially considering the battery specifications and the technology installed on the vehicle. Xiaomi Car will rely heavily on new-generation technology and smartphone integration. The car will probably have a phone mirroring system independent from Android Auto.

The new leak confirms Xiaomi wants its EV to become a leader in the EV industry, especially as the company has already expressed its long-term ambitions in the automotive world. Xiaomi intends to pioneer the debut of tech giants in the car business, with several big names, including Apple, to follow in its footsteps. The first Apple Car is due in 2025 or 2026, with a revised model focused particularly on self-driving technology to launch by the decade's end. Xiaomi is also likely to explore a similar approach, with a fully autonomous EV possible in the coming years.
