Mercedes-AMG has a new-generation two-door GT in its lineup and promises to be better than its predecessor in every aspect. It is mechanically related to the latest AMG SL roadster and looks like an evolution of the old one.
Most petrolheads would be more than satisfied with it, yet a small number would rather go for a nice example of the previous Mercedes-AMG GT. And if the GT R came to your mind, then you should know that the pictured copy is looking for a new home.

Its power is on par with the latest Mercedes-AMG GT 63, as the 4.0L bi-turbo V8 engine pumps out an identical 577 hp (585 ps/ 430 kW). The torque, however, is 74 lb-ft (100 Nm) less in the GT R, which enjoys 516 lb-ft (700 Nm). The 0-62 mph (0 to 100 kph) is a 3.6-second affair, which is almost half a second slower than the new GT 63, and the top speed stands at 198 mph (318 kph), 2 mph (3 kph) more.

This example features a Selenite Gray Magno exterior paint finish. It is sprinkled with the usual carbon fiber accents, has V-spoke alloys wrapped in Michelin tires, yellow brake calipers with AMG branding, and a black interior with yellow seatbelts, matching stitching, and a host of Alcantara and leather upholstery.

The vendor also mentions the Burmester premium sound system, two keys, and the usual lecture that accompanies this six-year-old machine. The GT R is said to have some $40,000 in options, so it is a nicely-specified example. It is also a barely-driven one, as it had only 15,982 miles (25,720 km) on the clock at the time of cataloging.

This is the part where we talk about the Benjamins. So, how much do you think this 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R will cost you? Unless you said $149,900, you were wrong. That is a lot of money for any set of wheels, including a high-end AMG from the relatively modern era, so we can understand if you are going to keep searching the used car market for a different one that fits your budget.

If you are still interested in making it yours, you should click this link, which will take you to the listing on Garage Kept Motors. The vehicle is in stock, and the vendor is open to pre-purchase inspections, albeit by appointment.

This Mercedes-AMG GT R costs as much as a 443-horsepower (449 ps/330 kW) Porsche 911 Carrera S, and the equally-punchy (in terms of output) new-gen GT 63 can be had from $175,900, $41,000 more than the lesser GT 55, whose V8 mill produces 469 hp (476 ps/350 kW). So, which one would you get on a $150K budget and why?
