Over the years, I've encountered countless motorhome designs across North America, so naturally, I started exploring a bit further out. On this journey, I arrived in the UK, where I found one of the most welcoming and home-feeling Class C RVs I've seen in a while. Time to explore the Alora.
Depending on where you are in the world, the word "alora" means something different. Most often than not, it means "god is light" or simply "dreamer." Then there are the Italians, for whom it means "then." Nonetheless, a word is just a word, and no matter what you call this rose, the Alora is nothing short of amazing.

Before we hop into this ride and see all it has to offer, allow me to point out a thing or two about the minds and hands behind the magic. In this case, it's the folks over at Bailey of Bristol, a motorhome, RV, and caravan manufacturer that's actually been around for decades, since 1948, to be precise. With that sort of know-how and dedication to this industry, you know we're in for a treat. Be sure to check out that image gallery before going on.

Now, what I enjoyed most about the Alora are the interiors we see, but before we get there, I need to point out a few things about the basis for the Alora and what it can do. For example, Ford is the chosen manufacturer for the chassis, and with them, Bailey brings a family-ready habitat to life; four guests will have a place to rest their heads no matter which of the three floorplans buyers end up choosing.

Since time simply doesn't allow us to shed light on all three units, I've chosen to bring to light the floorplan I like most, the 69-4I. It's the one with the large and central bed at the rear of the unit. The other two options offer a modular split singles configuration and an East-West double bed; choose your destiny. Nonetheless, whichever of the three you end up choosing, they're all priced at £75,499, which is roughly $95K (at current exchange rates).

For the remainder of this session, grab your favorite floorplan and load it up with all the gear you'd need during your vacation - maybe you've chosen the on-road life full time - and let's hit the road. As you do, all the great features Ford is known for will take care of you as you drive down city streets, highways, and even dirt roads, ensuring you safely make it to your destination no matter the traffic.

Once you've arrived at your home away from home, be it an RV park, the edge of some vineyard, or the middle of nowhere, you'll get out, stretch your legs, and start unloading all that you brought along, and this is where the Alora begins to shine bright.

One of the attractive aspects of Alora is its ability to store a massive amount of gear, not just inside but outside, too. At the rear of Alora, a large cargo garage is in place that can fit a couple of bicycles, a pair of inflatable kayaks, and other bits and pieces like an outdoor dining set. Oh, might I add that it's also heated.

Now, as we head inside, we can really see where and why Bailey has been alive for decades. Honestly, I'm still waiting for the day when North America steps up its RV game to this level. Some manufacturers have already begun their journey to more modern, elegant, and, dare I say, more European interiors, but the majority don't come anywhere close, not for this price anyway.

Upon entry, we find ourselves in the middle of a living space that allows access to everything like the Transit's cab, the living room where two opposing couches wait to transform into a bed at night, a kitchen that will everything your family needs, and a neatly tucked-away wet bath by the door. For ultimate privacy, the bedroom is cut off from the rest of the unit, regardless of the floorplan.

Another one of my favorite aspects of the Alora is its ability to flood the interior with natural light. Not only does the tilt of the windshield help in this way, but a large sunroof over the cab and a smaller one toward the rear are really the cherry on the cake. Take a moment to immerse yourself in the center of this action.

Honestly, I could go on and on about all the little knick-knacks lineup has in store for its future owners, but we'd be here until the cows come home. Still, I can't help but bring to light that Alora isn't just a park-ready unit but can, in fact, be taken off the grid.

That's because each unit is equipped with 100 l (26.4 gals) of freshwater stored within the shell, a Truma heating setup, and a rather basic "but it's there" kind of electrical system with a solar panel and battery pack. Considering the level at which Bailey plays the RV game, it's safe to say that you can beef up the latter by throwing some more cash at the problem. Go nuts; after all, you're buying a mobile home with an emphasis on the word 'home.'

While it may be rather difficult to understand what the Alora may feel like from behind a smart device or laptop, maybe even a desktop, you can always find one in a dealership near you, and this is where the catch comes in. Since Bailey of Bristol is a UK-based crew, chances are that you won't find out outside the queen's domain. I guess it can just be an inspiration to the majority of us.
