There are a few muscle cars that need no introduction, and the fabulous Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is one of them. After all, who can forget a model that's capable of sprinting down the quarter mile quicker than some modern supercars?
Unveiled in the first half of 2017, it used to be the fastest production car to 60 mph (97 kph) back then. It was shown at New York and came with significant upgrades over the regular Hellcat, which was good for 707 horsepower.

For one, the 6.2-liter V8 received a larger supercharger, new pistons, higher boost pressure, and the rev limiter lifted by 300 rpm to 6,500. Other work went into the engine, and the result was stunning: 840 horsepower produced in the top configuration.

According to Dodge, the 0-60 was dealt with in a neck-snapping 2.3 seconds, and it was a nine-second car down the quarter mile. Actually, make that 'is' a nine-second car, as some of the best-preserved examples are still capable of pulling insane times at the drag strip without any modifications.

Should you want to secure a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon from the used car market, you're looking at upwards of $200,000 normally. Some overenthusiastic owners wanting to make a lot of money off theirs tend to list them for some half a million dollars, though realistically speaking, you may be able to get one from under $200k if you're patient and know your way around used car lots and auction websites.

Mind you, you might land a Demon for far less than that if you're not afraid of elbow grease, and the one pictured in the gallery above would be a good candidate. It is a 2018 model with just under 10,000 miles (~16,000 km) on the clock, and it looks in good shape at first glance. However, it sits in the automobile hall of shame called Copart, so it has some damage.

We couldn't see any significant ones in the pictures accompanying the ad that you can find here, but the vendor states that it was vandalized. As a result, we'd recommend taking a trip to Houston, Texas, and checking it out in person if you're thinking about buying it. With a red exterior on top of the black cockpit, this muscle car will go under the online gavel at an undisclosed date.

Normally, we'd stay away from vehicles that may have numerous hidden issues, and this Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is a huge red flag. On the other hand, if you could get it for a reasonable price, then it might be worth it. After all, even if you don't plan to revive it, you could still sell it for parts, and its heart alone can get you a lot of money.
