Securing a 2021 Ford Bronco is a distant perspective, which is probably one of the reasons why first-generation builds have become increasingly popular. Of course, not everything is owed to the introduction of the modern version, because the original has its own undeniable charm.
But here’s the deal, we have noticed that most custom creations based on older Broncos tend to fall into a couple of popular categories. Either they go for a very clean look with few upgrades, or they fully blow the top dollar for a complete restomod that changes everything, from the engine to the underside and the interior.

Because the Ford Bronco is an integral part of our Celebration Month special feature, we’re always on the look for interesting creations – which is what brought us to this Bring-A-Trailer listing. First and foremost, we can tell you this 1976 Ford Bronco stands out in a crowd big time. It also proudly doesn’t fit in any of the categories mentioned earlier.

According to the extensive details shared on the auction portal, the old Bronco came into the possession of the current seller back in 2018, and all the modifications were finished this summer. These included a tasty blue with white top repaint, extensive interior work, a fiberglass tub addition, as well as aftermarket steel hood and doors, among others.

From the get-go, it should be noted the Bronco clearly stands out with its uncut fenders, though that’s not the only pièce de résistance. Unlike many other builds, which go for a Coyote or even an LS engine swap, this unit comes with an International Harvester 7.3-liter V8, which is, of course, of the diesel variety! Sure, it was used inside Ford F-Series trucks and E-Series vans but seeing it in the engine bay of a Bronco certainly is quite unexpected.

Although the clean exterior initially suggests a classic apparition, the ‘76 does point towards custom work with its LED lighting, powered side steps, and roll cage. Other modern amenities include the front disc brakes, power-assisted steering, aftermarket audio, and dashboard display for the reversing camera.

If you want it, better act fast – the auction is scheduled to end only a few hours from now. At the moment of writing, this build has reached a high bid of $55k – but we think it’s worth it even just for the sheer factor of awe when mentioning that 7.3-liter V8... diesel.
