We've often spoken about the remarkably creative tiny house designs coming from New Zealand and Australia. They became so influential that they're now inspiring builders from other parts of the world to bring to life similar concepts. Artsvillages blends the New Zealand trend with the traditional craftsmanship of one of Europe's pioneering builders, Serena.House.
Can a house on wheels that looks entirely rustic be exquisitely luxurious at the same time? One look inside the Artsvillages tiny will convince you that the answer is "yes." On the one hand, this abode looks like the typical tiny homes we see in places like France and Germany – an abundance of wood with natural finishes, bringing to mind traditional cabins in the woods. On the other hand, this cabin-like tiny is packed with unexpected luxuries – two cozy bedrooms, a perfect kitchen, a fancy bathroom, and abundant storage.

Artsvillages is, above all, a family home. It oozes residential goodness in a way that few tiny homes do. In other words, it doesn't feel like a temporary dwelling where certain functional or comfort features are absent. It emanates the peace, stability, and generosity of a house that's been here for generations and will continue to be.

Like all the tiny homes built by Serena.House, Artsvillages is a woodwork masterpiece. Yet, the New Zealand trend's influence is noticeable in things like the sliding glass doors and the two-loft bedroom layout with a bridge-like walkway connecting them.

As soon as you step inside, you are welcomed by the home's cozy living area. Sitting at the center of the house, it's nestled under the walkway and flanked by walls, which makes it much more private and relaxing. Then, there's the benefit of unobstructed views of the entire main floor and the outdoors.

A focus on storage and practical solutions is instantly noticeable. The "walls" separating this area from the rest of the house double as beautifully crafted furniture items with lots of shelves. On one side, these closets are integrated under the stairs, though this is not your typical staircase with built-in storage. The closets on the other side are part of the kitchen, where storage is absolutely fabulous.

We're not talking about a couple of shelves and some tiny cabinets. This kitchen almost feels like a standard house version. The generous pantry has multiple drawers and shelves and is joined by numerous cabinets. Premium appliances, including a full-size oven and a dishwasher, also contribute to this kitchen's luxurious aspect. Multiple windows and ceiling lights keep it well-lit any time of the day.

Thanks to the open-space layout, both the kitchen and the living room feel wonderfully spacious. All the family members living inside can move freely because nothing gets in the way, with easy access to the stored items.

At the opposite end of the house, a family bathroom reveals its stylish design. Everything from the built-in bathtub with a discrete glass panel and the conventional toilet to the elegant vanity with numerous drawers will make you forget you're inside a tiny house on wheels.

Like most New Zealand tiny homes, this Spanish beauty accommodates its owners upstairs in two lovely bedrooms. The most distinctive feature is the flawless walkway with a wooden railing running along its entire length. This is what makes these loft rooms feel more like conventional bedrooms – it's easy and safe to access them, they’re connected, and each has its own privacy. Multiple windows bring in natural light and provide cross-ventilation.

A family of four would be wonderfully accommodated inside the Artsvillages home, where one of the lofts could be turned into a children's room. Unlike ladders or separate stairs, this configuration with a walkway makes this home much more friendly and safer for kids.

In addition to luxurious comfort, Artsvillages is also about healthy housing. The team at Serena.House equips all of its builds with ecological insulation and breathable walls. The pain is also eco-friendly, and the double-glazed wooden windows are part of the home's sustainable structure.

The modern-rustic Artsvillages comes on a 9 x 3-meter (29.5 x 9.8 feet) trailer and is based on the Spanish brand's Penates XL format. The Penates is one of its largest platforms, designed for permanent living or family tourism. It's been recreated in numerous attractive versions, including ones that are fully off-grid. Pricing for the standard Penates starts at € 49,327 ($53,000), but the turnkey Artsvillages, based on the larger Penates XL, will, of course, be much pricier.

Like its sister houses, Artsvillages is designed and hand-crafted at the brand's workshop in Catalonia, near Barcelona. Serena.House is proudly linked to the construction of the first off-grid tiny homes in both Spain and France. Since 2016, it continued to grow and evolve. Today, fresh inspiration coming all the way from New Zealand helped this Spanish builder add a new layer of versatility and comfort to its gorgeous homes on wheels.
