Few are the people in the world in any real danger of causing confusion among others regarding which Bugatti Veyron they're talking about. Tracy Morgan is one of those few.
The actor and comedian is also known for his passion for collecting cars, with a soft spot for Bugattis and Ferraris. Over the years, Tracy Morgan has owned so many high-end, limited-edition hypercars and custom supercars that even he probably lost count. But one thing's for sure: he's had at least a pair of Veyrons, one of which is (in)famous worldwide.
That would be the 2012 Bugatti Veyron he took delivery of in 2019 and immediately got into a car accident with, through no fault of his own. Morgan's Veyron was sideswept by a Honda CR-V in what the media described at the time as the world's most expensive fender bender. Initial devaluation to the Veyron was estimated at $200,000, but luckily, it only took $32,000 to fix the damage.
Well, this Veyron is not that one. To our knowledge, Morgan still owns that one, to which he once referred to as a "she," saying it took him two months just to gather up courage to drive it and vouching he "always drive[s] slow, because I want everybody to see [me]."
This one, in stunning metallic black over tan leather, is a 2008 Veyron 16.4 that Morgan owned between 2017 and 2020, and which disappeared until 2024, when it was bought by the current owner. That owner – a dealer, to be more precise – is now looking to sell it at auction on a popular platform.
This Veyron is number 143 of the 252 coupes produced in the original configuration between 2005 and 2011, and the 46th unit of the total 76 build for U.S. delivery. It comes with documentation attesting the previous owner was Tracy Morgan and, most importantly, a clean Carfax report stating that it has not been involved in any accident.
Powered by a quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 that produces 987 hp and is mated to a Ricardo seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this Veyron shows only 5,500 miles (8,851 km) on the clock and has been serviced as recently as 2022. It's offered out of Costa Mesa, California, but has a clean Iowa title.
A Bugatti Veyron usually commands around $1.7 million, but the price can go sky-high if celebrity provenance is involved. It could be because Morgan unwillingly became the star of the world's most expensive fender bender and that people never bothered to read beyond the headlines that stated he crashed his new Bugatti after just 30 minutes of ownership, but bidding on this one is far from that amount.
The latest bid as of this writing is $696,969 with eight more days to go into the auction. But if there's anything more spectacular than the spectacular cars offered up for auction on this platform, it's the drama and the upsets that come in the hours before the hammer drops.
In the old video below, Tracy Morgan shows off some of his cars, with a black Bugatti, possibly the same one offered for sale, making an appearance at the 2.48 minute mark.
