Tiny houses have long overcome the novelty stage and are now commonplace in many parts of the world. While these compact dwellings now come in all shapes and sizes to cater to every style and need, many people still prefer the traditional look of rustic cabins. But what if you love the vibe of log cabin homes but also adore the comfort of modern residences?
Modern cabins are the answer to your prayers, and the Cedar Cabin by Greenwood Tiny Homes perfectly fits the bill. This tiny house on wheels offers the perfect combination of your dream cabin in the woods and the ideal modern home. On the outside, it displays a contemporary aesthetic with standing seam metal roofing and siding, while the wooden interior boasts the raw beauty and old-world charm of rustic homes.

With the Cedar Cabin, there is no need to compromise on luxury or convenience when you decide to downsize and adopt a lifestyle of simplicity. This mobile modern cabin is woodsy enough to make you feel at home yet modern enough to stay up-to-date in terms of style and design.

This tiny house was built a few years ago by Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based Greenwood Tiny Homes, a company that has been since absorbed by Zook Cabins, meaning it can no longer be ordered. However, the beautiful design can still serve as inspiration for those who are looking to DIY or commission a custom tiny home with a rustic vibe.

The Cedar Cabin is framed on a 30-foot long and 8.5-foot wide trailer and is 13.5 feet tall, offering 390 square feet of living space, including the lofts. This was enough to squeeze inside a large living room, a gorgeous kitchen, a spa-like bathroom, and two sleeping spaces.

Once you step inside, you'll get the feeling you're in a cozy retreat in the woods or the mountains somewhere. That's because everything inside, from the walls to the ceilings and all the furniture pieces, is made of whitewashed cedar. The extensive use of this type of wood adds warmth and personality to the space. The natural tongue and groove walls and ceilings are perfectly matched by luxury vinyl tile flooring.

The designers maintained a cohesive color palette throughout the house to create a sense of unity and spaciousness. At the same time, they included an incredible amount of functional features and amenities, marrying that rustic charm with modern grandeur. Full-size appliances, a jacuzzi in the bathroom, and quality finishes also add a luxurious feel to the living space.

A highlight of this tiny house is the extensive use of glazing throughout. Besides the full-light entrance door, there are countless windows in all the areas that count and no less than six skylights that flood the interior with natural light. The oversized windows make the interior feel incredibly spacious and, most importantly, deeply connected to the surrounding environment.

The living room is especially bright and allows residents to enjoy the views through three large windows flanking the area where the couch is supposed to go. A small fireplace sits next to the door and gives the space a homey feel while also keeping the home warm and cozy during chilly evenings.

The adjacent kitchen has spacious base cabinets aligned against one of the walls and faces the staircase leading to the master loft, which integrates even more cabinets for storing all your kitchen essentials and other belongings. And if that's not enough, there is a custom storage bench cabinet next to the staircase that can fit even more stuff.

The kitchen's functionality is given by a full range, a full-sized refrigerator, and a stainless steel drop-in sink, while the golden fixtures and the neat-looking oak butcher block countertops add elegance and style to the space.

The bathroom lies at the back of the house and is separated from the rest of the living space by a cedar pocket door. Usually, the bathroom is a space that's often overlooked in compact dwellings, but not in this case. The Cedar Cabin's bathroom is remarkably luxurious with a Jacuzzi tub, tiled shower surround, pebblestone flooring, and a custom-designed floating vanity that seems taken out of a design magazine. A washing machine is neatly tucked inside a cabinet, which makes the space look clean and clutter-free.

The Cedar Cabin tiny home has two lofts, both of which can be used as bedrooms or configured for other uses, depending on the owner's needs. While the main loft is accessible through the storage staircase, the secondary one can be reached via a removable ladder, and both of them are protected by custom-built solid wood and cable railings. Double skylights keep the lofts well lit and ventilated.

This charming tiny home is one the finest examples of a contemporary build that also has the appeal of a rustic cabin. Its spacious common area on the main floor and the two-loft configuration make it highly versatile, while the quality finishes add a tinge of luxury and style. I can definitely picture myself relaxing with a mug of hot chocolate, enjoying the warmth from the wood stove, and watching the snow fall inside this tiny house.
