The Shore Tender is not a Defender, no matter how much it looks like one. It is not a yacht, either. No, it doesn’t look like one, but it was made by experts in the superyacht field in partnership with Everrati. It is a zero-emission transportation mode for a contemporary yachting lifestyle.
What we see for the moment are just sketches of what will be the Shore Tenders, an electric vehicle from Everatti, built in partnership with superyacht designers Bannenberg & Rowell, and superyacht specialist brokers Edmiston. The model will be on display at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show as an option for zero-emission land transportation wherever yacht owners decide to drop anchor.
The project is a redefinition of the Land Rover Defender, and, depending on the size of the yacht, it can be stored on board without forcing the owner to compromise on deck space. Customers can commission the Shore Tenders as a pair. That is how they will be able to always have a transportation backup once they return to the shore, wherever in the world.
The team of experts built the Shore Tender by hand, using OEM-grade components and fitting it with a bespoke electric powertrain. Everrati refers to an "impressive range, combined with regenerative braking" but does not mention any figures.
It is safe, though, to assume that the figures of the electric Defender would be similar to those that are valid for their previous electric Defender project. That means 150 metric horsepower (148 horsepower) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque generated by an electric motor.
A 60-kWh battery pack provides it with a range of up to 150 miles (241 kilometers). All the mods cut a whole 10-second off the 0 to 60 mph (0-97 kph) acceleration time, which is down from 23 to 13 seconds. The model features AC and DC fast charging capability.
The Shore Tender comes with a champagne chiller in the bonnet bulge, which would have been impossible to fit when the Defender was an ICE. To underline the connection with the world of yachting, the vehicle has been fitted with equipment and towel storage under the benches, a sailcloth roof awning, reclaimed ocean plastic floor panels, and removable doors and capstans.
Customers can choose to match the paint of the Shore Tender with the mothership. They can also choose yacht names and logos embroidering on the sailcloth duffel bags for enhanced individualization.
Everrati is thus offering a solution in a whole new sector in the superyachting industry, keeping their tradition of offering sustainable luxury. The company’s portfolio also includes electric versions of the Porsche 911 (964) Coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet, of the Range Rover Classic, Range Rover Defender, Land Rover Series, GT40, and Mercedes-Benz SL W113, the so-called 'Pagoda.'
