This Custom Camper Van Is a Modern Apartment on Wheels With an XL Bathroom, Now for Sale

The creation I'm discussing today is made by Livable Vans, a specialized conversion company based in Newfane, Vermont. The company is relatively new, having started its operations back in October 2022. Its story is quite similar to other custom van building firms – the couple who owns it wanted to start van life, so they made their own tiny home on wheels. They enjoyed the build process so much that they decided to start creating more vans for others to enjoy.

Their latest build is based on a 2022 Ford Transit 350 AWD, Extended and High Roof. It sports a 3.5-liter V6 gas engine paired with an automatic transmission, which gets about 16 MPG (almost 15 L/100km). The van is currently for sale, but I'll tell you more about that toward the end of the article. As usual, let me start by discussing the exterior features.

This rig rides on Method rims wrapped in Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires. Moreover, Liveable Van installed an Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 air spring kit, adjustable via an air compressor. The upgrade allows you to lift and lower the van while eliminating harsh vibrations on rough roads and increasing ride comfort.

On the roof, you'll discover an AVC Rig roof rack holding 600 W Renogy solar panels and a WeBoost antenna. Other features up top are a Dometic RTX A/C and a Maxxair fan.

Pop the sliding door open, and a bright and modern interior will greet you. Everything inside this van was custom-made, such as the baltic birch wood cabinetry and a cherrywood tabletop. Moreover, Livable Vans opted for an open layout, meaning the driver's cabin isn't separated from the living space.

Starting from the front, you'll find that the passenger's seat can be swiveled to face the interior. Underneath it, there's a Webasto heater connected to the vehicle's fuel tank. Moreover, above, you'll notice a spacious headliner shelf.

Livable Vans installed a swivel mount just for the passenger's seat because the space behind the driver's seat was used to devise a bathroom. The bathroom boasts a Nautilus self-cleaning sliding door, a shower, a clothesline, and a Nature's Head composting toilet. It offers a bunch of room both in length and height – even someone who's 6'3" can comfortably fit inside.

The next part of this van is the kitchen, split into two parts, one on each side. It features a butcher block countertop offering a bunch of counter space, a dual-burner induction stove with a cover (which can be lifted and serve as a backsplash), an Isotherm fridge/freezer, and a deep sink with filtered drinking water.

Livable Vans added numerous drawers, a cabinet under the sink, and four overhead cabinets with gas struts and guard rails for storage. What's more, a nice design touch is that the drawers come with leather straps – these not only look good, but they also won't get caught up in your clothes when you walk by.

On the driver's side kitchen wall, you'll find two outlets, light switches, and a switch for a 2.5-gallon (9.5-liter) Bosch water heater. Above, there's a small cubby with a guard rail, perfect for storing spices.

The final part of this camper van's interior is the lounge area/bedroom. In the day setup, it boasts two connected sizeable benches forming a U-shape with a swivel table in between. Furthermore, the floor was raised quite a bit, making room for a spacious drawer and a safe hidden behind a facade.

The WeBoost router is located in the part that connects the two benches under a panel. The rest of the space inside serves as a spot to store laundry. By the way, the benches come with custom cushions upholstered in stain and fade-resistant Sunbrella fabric.

This part of the van can be converted into a bedroom by lowering the swivel table between the benches, rearranging the cushions, and placing an extension over the end of the kitchen countertops. In this setup, the bed measures 65 inches (165 centimeters) in width and 75 inches (191 centimeters) in length. Livable Vans said it takes about five minutes to put everything in place.

Other notable elements at the rear of the interior are a slide-screen window, a hidden cubby, two reading lights, and a flip-up stand between the bed frame and the two rear doors.

Underneath the bench on the driver's side, Livable Vans devised an enormous storage space. Under the bench on the opposite side, you'll discover the electrical system. It comprises two heated BattleBorn batteries with a total capacity of 540 Ah, a 3,000 W Victron MultiPlus inverter/charger, a solar charge controller, a DC-DC charger, and other components such as breakers and fuses.

The rig's control center is housed inside one of the overhead cabinets – it consists of a Victron digital multi-controller, a battery monitor, and a freshwater gauge.

Underneath the lounge/bedroom area, you'll notice a relatively small garage space, complete with lights, an outdoor sprayer, and a gravity fill for a 30-gallon (114-liter) freshwater tank. Moreover, a 20-gallon (76-liter) greywater tank is mounted underneath the vehicle.

Livable Vans added a motorized ball valve to the greywater tank, operated via a button in the driver's cabin. It lets you dump it quickly and responsibly if the water doesn't contain harmful substances. Otherwise, you can connect a hose and dump it in designated spots.

Overall, this tiny home on wheels has many features needed to enable a comfortable life on the road. It's got off-grid capabilities, a cozy and aesthetically pleasing interior, and a bunch of storage space.
