Last week, the updated Tesla app revealed that Tesla would bring back Smart Summon and Autopark features, days after Elon Musk promised "really cool stuff" related to these features. Musk later announced that vastly improved Summon and Autopark will arrive in April. Intriguingly, Tesla's CEO named the latter "Banish," hinting at a possible renaming.
The day when your Tesla will be able to park itself is not too far if we're to believe Elon Musk. Tesla's CEO hyped self-parking for the second time in less than a week, shortly after people revealed new software code mentioning smart summon. However, what Tesla owners expect to see is Actual Smart Summon (ASS), an advanced auto park feature that would offer Smart Summon functions using FSD neural networks, thus becoming much better.

After FSD Beta V12.3 was released to more testers this weekend, people overwhelmingly praised it for the progress it showed in most situations. Among those impressed by Tesla's self-driving software was Michael Dell, the founder of the computer company named after him. However, even more impressive was that Tesla engineers and Elon Musk himself took the time to explain the FSD advancements and new features that are coming soon.

Tesla's chief of Autopilot software, Ashok Elluswamy, replied to a video showing famous FSD Beta tester Chuck Cook testing the latest FSD Beta build, revealing an important upcoming feature. This will allow Tesla EVs to reverse while driving on FSD Beta, a crucial achievement that would bring artificial intelligence one step closer to human driving. Elluswamy said that reverse driving would be offered when Actually Smart Summon (ASS) and the FSD models will merge "over the next few releases."

Most likely, this will happen with one of the FSD Beta V12.4 builds, which are still in development. Musk teased the V12.4 last week when people shared their first V12.3 impressions, saying it would mark "a big jump in capabilities." As Musk explained, Tesla has vastly improved its training computing capacity, allowing a faster development pace. This also involves introducing new features, including Summon, Smart Summon, and Autopark, which Musk promised would come next month.

Intriguingly, Elon Musk used a funny name for the Autopark feature: Banish. "Major improvements coming for Summon & Banish (Autopark) next month," Musk wrote on X, replying to an FSD Beta V12.3 reviewer. I don't know what movie Musk has been watching recently, but Banish doesn't seem like a fitting name for a driving assistance system like Autopark.

Taken from the literal meaning, Banish sounds more like Reverse Summon than Autopark. However, Musk could've referred to the larger meaning of Autopark as the feature that allows the car to park itself. Whatever the case, we have credible reports that Tesla is finally testing FSD Beta features that will enable the vehicle to navigate a parking lot, park itself, and present itself to the owner when summoned. I don't know whether these features will arrive on April 1 or April 20, but they will certainly be offered in one of the upcoming FSD Beta versions.
